Hey people if you’ve been wanting to get off Spotify but don’t know how or what to do after, i wrote this guide for @fightforthefuture.org - with tiered steps from alt-casual to ultimate DIY nerd!

Correction - they do have Proton Docs - which are like Google word docs in a Proton cloud. You can create, store & access them online & share them. You can also open & work on non-native docs in their Proton Doc space. But they don't yet have Sheets ('Excel') (or Slides (ppt) type products).

Also - I cannot consistently manually backup photo files directly to Proton Photos - sometimes the flow only allows access to Proton Drive - and from there it won't let me move photo files into Proton Photos. Very odd.

Side note: Gdocs only download as MS files & if you don't pay for MS you can't edit them, but you can open/save them as LibreOffice .ods files. However when you upload those to ProtonDrive you still can't view them in preview. In summary, ProtonDrive can only store docs, it's not a cloud workspace.

One of the annoying things though is that if I move a doc from Gdrive to Proton Drive I need to download, then upload it. But if I want to access & view it, I can't b/c it says it's 'not available for preview' & requires that I download it (where MS will hoover it back up to their OneDrive cloud)

I've been in the process of switching to Proton for some months now. It's a slog to be sure, if you're trying to do it manually vs an automated sync. My phone keeps overriding my changes to photo backup defaults bc I'm on android tho. 🙄
