Just in case you're not familiar, nowadays you'd take multiple medium length exposures (Sharpcap dev Robin Glover has excellent talks on best exposure based on your sensor+light pollution) and then digitally stack them. The stacking algorithm can detect+reject exposures w/streaks or clouds
