I think we are grossly obsessed with scope and scale, and AI feeds into those who are overly ambitious to begin with and dont understand concise design, so you end up a game that would be 300 hours of Nothing.

I've always felt like AI-driven games have that same energy as folks who post those massive, 1000x1000 tile world maps in the RMN Mapping thread, where it might be cool on a scope level but completely impractical in a game.

Even if it's just a hobby for me, everything surrounding game development and art in general has been soul-crushingly depressing. Pleas of "please keep creating. you have to keep creating" are starting to ring hollow.

Truth be told, I'm in a much better place to work on game projects than I was at this time last year.

Now to overcome the "Everything about the state of game development is unbelievably bleak and there are also more games coming out every day than any one person could consume in a lifetime" dread.

If you include the full span of the Year of Luigi event (397 days), it would take until 2412 for there to be enough Mario Days to catch up.

This is including 2380 being a leap year.

Mario Day began in 2015, which means it will take 354 years for there to be enough Mario Days to equal one Year of Luigi. This will happen in the year 2380.

Could just be that theyre positioning smaller ones around the recent Pokemon Presents, but I do miss full Directs. Hopefully theyre not retired.

Not too sure if I like the more recent format of "More Directs, but theyre about one or two things each". It's not really as exciting.
