They subverted expectations, played with different settings, pushed the nostalgic button, and upped the gore (a Terrifier influence). Light on meta and motive, though, which are the strongest aspects of these films. Overall, Scream fans should still find it worthwhile. 👻

I’m always going to enjoy these slasher movies. Even the lowest of the Halloweens, Friday the 13ths, and Screams are a good time. Which is to say, I feel like this one may be the weakest Scream since the third one, but it was still fun!

I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own government’s repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds.

I don't mind a fun romantasy, but I was hoping for a bit more historical or fantasy in this "historical fantasy." I'm glad I read Outlander, but I probably won't continue on with the epic series. I wasn't as enthralled by the main romance, which likely didn't help, or wanting to stay in 1743! Agh.

The constitutional remedy for a president who attempts to commit the United States to war without authorization from Congress is impeachment, removal, disqualification, and a criminal trial.

Only one in five Americans supported an attack on Iran.

But Trump did it anyways.

The state of the union address was like 72 hours before the US and Israel chose to attack Iran’s capital and call for regime change, and Trump did not even mention his policy toward Iran before Congress, much less ask for a declaration of war.

A heartening notion.

In the past, sometimes presidents have said it’s just a military operation or limited airstrikes to skirt Congress. Trump has unilaterally launched major combat operations, declaring war with the goal of regime change. A major violation of the U.S. Constitution, also illegal under international law

Needless to say, POTUS's airing of grievances on social media against Iran does not provide a predicate for using military force under either US or international law.

There was a lot of talk among civil society folks between Trump terms about “tyrant-proofing” the presidency, and basically none of those reforms happened. But it looks like Trump is having much more success at doing the opposite—“freedom-proofing” the country in ways that will be very hard to undo…
