When Reggae Legends Unite for Jamaica Willie Stewart's "Have A Little Faith" and Why It Needs Your Help

This is one of the things that makes #Jamaica special…no, I’m not talking about reggae. Me ah talk β€˜bout the way them pull together like family. They may argue, fight, disagree, but they always pull together! One love.

When did β€œauthor’s photo” become a thing?

I used to #read #books not having a clue (not caring) what the #author looked like.

I #write therefore I am.

#Fish experts, what fish is this? It washed up on #Guyana’s shore.

Not generally. But a few who know about it eat it. I think there’s a Jamaican restaurant in Georgetown. We had an ackee tree in the backyard of our big old family home.

Do you eat meat? I cook it for mum though I don’t eat it.πŸ˜€

It goes well with ackee (minus the salt fish). Or with callaloo. Or curry it with eggplant.

Eddo before it’s peeled and cooked. A root vegetable, shaped like potato. Rough, ridged brown skin with a hint of pink at the top.

Eddo is what we call ground provision. A root vegetable. Tastes like potato and nut. When you peel it, it has a white / pinkish colour. *Never, ever eat it raw. Your mouth & throat will itch as if you’d eaten itching powder.

When it’s cooked, it turns pale lavender. It’s starchier than yam.

Trinis call hassar cascadoo (spelling?). It has dark grey bones like an armour, plaited, outside, and vertebrae inside. The flesh has a strong flavour. Easy to slip the flesh off the bone when eating. When it’s cooked, the flesh has an odd colour…a pale yellowish-brown.

Man, I really wish I could eat a li’l bit hassar curry and roti.

Actually, hassar stew with eddo or potato.
