I love it. Though still kind of bummed Laezel left me for diplomatic work on the Astral Plane.

And weirdly, people treat you as some kind of Greek Stoic despite the fact it makes zero difference to your level of productivity.

I did it - I am by nature a night owl (and would default back to that all things being equal) but I got into the habit of getting up at dawn to write. It is a really good feeling to have done most things before everyone else is awake.

The photo is of the inside of Gladstone's Library. The space is open to the dark wood Tudor-style rafters with a gallery floor on the left side. Downstairs, people sit at wooden tables, and there are carved wooden columns and wooden shelves full of books. Lights strong from wire hang in the open space. Upstairs, the wooden railings sit in front of wooden desks, which are flanked by more book-lined shelves.

There are still 10 days to apply for the Milford Bursary for SF Writers of Colour!
A 2024 recipient, @naomieselojor.bsky.social, says in her report, "Iโ€™d give anything to have that experience all over again."
So, what are you waiting for?

Just a reminder that your local library has more than just books! Many also have dvds, cds, video games, game systems, internet hot spots, streaming services, ebooks, audio books, park passes, museum passes, and so so much more! Maybe it's time for a visit!

Ah I misunderstood - I thought it meant novels (only just woken up after gallstone attack and realised Iโ€™d missed my yoga class so reading comprehension not all it should be). I thought it meant writing for the market.

I shall withdraw until common sense returns.

I may be some timeโ€ฆ

Yesterday I got to lay eyes on the one and only Codex Regius Poetic Edda.

This little book is by far the most valuable book in Iceland, and arguably for the whole of Northern Europe. It was written during the 1270s and it is the sole source of so much that we know about Norse Mythology.
