Even if ur not into horror or vampires, if u can just stomach gore, this is so so worth it for what it tells.

many ways. Emotionally, creatively, about my reading tastes, about monsters, storytelling, my own writing, writing in general, did I mention emotionally??
Filled me with so much rage, and sorrow and intrigue and dread and curiosity and conflicted emotions. Genuinely jaw dropping.

Absolute 6 STAR book, as I said, new all time favorite. I started it and wasn’t sure I would continue and then suddenly I was finished. Masterfully crafted, truly. All the little details and how ALL of them tied up neatly at the end. Brilliant. All the themes interwoven in the story too…

Slow at parts and I struggled to keep reading until suddenly I came back from a super vivid mind-movie where I was in the books story and suddenly had blasted thru 100 pages+ in a sitting😭🫶🏻🫶🏻 just wow, again.
So many emotions and feelings and thoughts during this read.
Will 100% read more by Jones.

And also Good Stabs characterization is much of the same, just insane, so GENIUS. He was great too. Intrigued, curious, conflicted, sad, confused, happy, rooting for him…. So many feels. Reading his parts was so fun bc it was slow and confusing at first but then I learnt the words and it was still,

Arthur is probs one of my fav protagonists ever, from being intrigued, to thinkin he’s just a cute sweet-treat loving old man who was both VERY and VAGUELY religious at the same time, loved him, felt sorry for him, then hated him so so much… amazingly written, holy shit. No words truly. Absolut PEAK

Was gonna make this short but AAAA many thoughts. Probs my fav characterization ever and all the details and foreshadowing??? That I hadn’t even a SLIGHT sense of being anything at ALL, until it hit me right in the face like an anvil getting dropped on me from above. Just WOW. Chefs kiss. 6 stars.

And funny thing, for those who have read it, I sent a paragraph to my friends and said ‘hahah look how cute a whole paragraph of how he likes his sweet treats’, the paragraph where the red strand of hair is first mentioned… which I thought was just a fun haha detail😭 I wish it was LMAO

I LOOVE the vibes, the setting and the style of writing, so fun.
It is more hefty than I’m used to so it’s taking me longer but I’m really intrigued to where this goes.
