They may live in solitary confinement for years, chained by fear, uncertainty & intolerable psychological torment."

The study uncovers that, despite a suspension in executions, death row populations are often maintained in ADF states. As is common in retentionist states, this means people on death row can experience poor conditions & severe psychological distress, which can amount to โdeath row phenomenonโ.
