I appreciate everything he has written, but in particular, I cannot tell you how much it means to me for my bishop to specifically state that he expects everyone in our synod to speak out for trans people. For families like mine.

I didn't know him personally, but my parents heard a day before we did because of the local news, and there are a lot of trans people in my family and my life. It's hard to move through the world knowing what faces them and not being able to keep them safe.

Sam was murdered near my hometown. His murder follows the pattern of increasingly abusive rhetoric and policies aimed at trans and GNC folx. If the pattern continues, then things only get worse.

Do NOT let the pattern continue.

I want you all to understand the depths of the pain and horror this wrought on Sam and his family but also on transgender people across the USA.

I want you all to understand the way this has gutted me and my family.
