It's a choice to have my first post on Bluesky be a pedantic historical one, but start as you know you'll go on I guess. Mostly I think it is important to be thoughtful about what organizations/institutions we get inspiration from in this moment.

The OSS (Office of Strategic Services) was a completely different organization. The CIA was created in the early days of the Cold War, formed through the National Security Act of 1947. Why is this important? Because sabotaging fascism was not the mandate of the CIA - but sabotaging communism was.
