Thallo - Greek goddess of buds and blossom. She gazes towards you. She holds sprigs of blossom. She wears a white gown.

Thallo - Greek Goddess of blossom and buds.

One of the Horae (goddesses of seasons), she reigns over spring buds, green shoots and the awakening of nature after the long dark of winter. She is known as 'the bringer of blossoms'.

Fun fact - modern science believes that a planet collided with the young Earth 4.5 billion years ago and created the moon. This planet has been named Theia, as she was the mother of the moon goddess Selene.

Theia is the Greek Goddess of light, sight, and the brilliant blue sky. Her name means 'divine one'. As one of the original Titans, Theia is one of the earliest and most ancient goddesses in Greek mythology.

Egyptian goddess Heqet. She has a frog's head and she is breastfeeding a baby. She wears a green and white robe.

Heqet - Ancient Egyptian goddess.

This adorably frog-headed goddess reigns over childbirth, fertility, and regeneration. Heqet is associated with the flooding of the Nile; a key event in the Egyptian calendar as it brings essential new life.

The Three Graces - the goddesses of pleasure, beauty, and joy. Aglaia brings radiance and splendour, Euphrosyne brings joy and mirth, Thalia brings growth and blossoming. They are the spirit of fun and are always welcome at the gods' banquets!

I've always liked Hathor because of her association with cows. They too are benign and benevolent and worthy of reverence (and they don't deserve to be eaten 😉)

The goddess Hathor. She has horns and a red sun disc upon her head. She holds a golden egg. She has cow's ears. She wears a blue dress.

February 27th - A Journey with Goddess.

Hathor is one of my favourite faces of Goddess; I always spend time with her statues when I visit the British Museum. A benevolent and loving mother goddess - she is a protector of women as well as reigning over love, beauty, and even the stars.

The goddess Persephone. She is in a cave, but reaches out for the light of the world above. She wears a white dress adorned with flowers.

February 26th - A Journey with Goddess

Persephone - Goddess of Spring and Queen of the Underworld.

Sunshine is blessing us here and delicate blossoms are beginning to bloom, and so we can look forward to welcoming back Persephone from her six months in the Underworld.

Nehalennia - Goddess of seafaring.

A goddess who was worshipped along the coast of what is now the Netherlands. I love this face of Goddess because she is also associated with dogs - often depicted with her trusty canine companion at her side.

Olwen - Welsh goddess of the sun.

In The Mabinogion (a collection of Welsh folk tales & mythology), Olwen is described as possessing radiant beauty, with skin that shines like the sun. The sun finally shone here in London, and so we welcome Olwen.

Egyptian goddess Seshat. She writes upon a scroll. She wears a white robe with a leopard skin sash. Columns and pyramids are behind her. A crescent moon and star are upon her head.

Seshat - Egyptian goddess of writing, of knowledge, of wisdom.

Writing was sacred to the Ancient Egyptians - for them it was the act of preserving something that might otherwise be lost. Writing makes the transient into something eternal.

February 22nd - A Journey with Goddess.

Aranyani - Hindu goddess of the forest.

Aranyani is the protectress of the forests and all the creatures that dwell in the woodlands. Her name comes from the Sanskrit word 'Aranya' which means woodland, wilderness, or forest.

Serket (or Serquet) is an Egyptian goddess of healing and protection... especially against the bites and stings of venomous creatures. Depicted with a scorpion atop her head, she was called upon to heal those suffering from a sting.
