On this day in 1856, Moses Fleetwood Walker was born in Mount Pleasant, OH. He was one of the first African Americans to play in the big leagues, but also, an inventor, entrepreneur, lecturer and newspaper publisher. Here’s a color study of him with the Syracuse Stars in 1889.

No time to start like the present! Although I would recommend stretching first ... and then stretching a little more. But we have players of all ages, all sizes, all skill levels. It's so much fun.

Thankfully, I am optimistic we're coming back for a new season in a few months! So the sense of dread is a little different than those players seemed to feel. (Also, we like each other more!)

We must now start calling this what it is: Trump’s Invasion. It started with federal agents, it will soon include deploying federalized members of the Illinois National Guard against our wishes, and it will now involve sending in another state’s military troops.
