In teacher preparation courses, we ask beginning teachers to create lesson plans. Of course, this level of lesson planning depth is not done in the classroom, but it is to learn what makes a good lesson plan. So, I asked AI to do it and described two different contexts. The results were concerning.🧵

I took a class in college about the civil rights movement and we watched a lot of Eyes on the Prize. So powerful to hear from those who did the work and to see video and images from the time.

Eyes on the Prize is epic. I showed some to my 9th grade U.S. history students in the late 90s when I was starting out. They were into it. Had the chance to see Julian Bond in person a few times through work. It was so cool hearing his voice in person (he narrates the series).

Can confirm; I have multiple friends in Illinois who applied to and got into those schools, went to them, realized "Wow, while the school is great but the state is run by horrible people and has terrible infrastructure and policies" and left after graduation.

Most incredible about this is that IU-Bloomington has long been the no. 1 university in the world for teaching Asian languages and cultures, with many programs found nowhere else.

They're slashing many of IU-B's most distinctive programs with zero thought or debate. They probably don't even know.

Private Henry Johnson of the 369th New York Infantry.

This Army birthday I’m thinking of Medal of Honor recipient Pvt Henry Johnson of the 369th NY National Guard (known as the Harlem Hellfighters). The 369th served more days in the WWI trenches than an other US unit, took more casualties also. DOD just stripped Johnson’s name off Ft. Polk.
