This is a more detailed infographic with the exact excerpts from the documents/agreements which China cherry-picks from the different WW2 documents in order to string together an argument that China can use against Japan, if Japan does not abide by what China wants.

A quick note that while China rejects the San Francisco Peace Treaty, it however considers the Cairo Declaration and Potsdam Proclamation to be valid (against international norms), and China uses them to claim Taiwan (and Okinawa, if it wants). More on the specific text in this infographic below: 👇

Peace pact cannot guarantee peace: Lai - Taipei Times Bringing Taiwan to the World and the World to Taiwan

China wants to sign a 'peace treaty' in order to get Taiwan to 'surrender' to China, so that China can claim to be the successor to ROC, and take Taiwan. ROC was the government in China before moving to Taiwan, and China desperately wants the successorship.

China has been framing Japan as militarizing, so that it can use Potsdam to accuse Japan of re-arming, and then use UN Charter Enemy State Clauses to enforce action against Japan without UN Security Council approval. China is edging towards war, but accusing Japan of doing so.

Potsdam Proclamation limits Japan's sovereignty to its 4 major islands (not Okinawa), then China can use the Cairo Declaration to claim Okinawa was stolen from China & use Potsdam to fight Japan if it resists. China's claims on these documents are a pretext to start a conflict.

China is demanding Japan acknowledge the Cairo/Potsdam Declarations, but these documents not only allow China to use force against Taiwan, but also on Japan.

This is why a Taiwan contingency is a Japan contingency.

SEE HOW CHINA MAY START A CONFLICT based on these documents:

The global AI race is supercharging Taiwan’s economy. But many don’t feel better off | CNN Business For proof that an economy can thrive even under constant military threats from a powerful neighbor and amid US President Donald Trump’s sweeping global tariffs, look no further than Taiwan.

Glad to speak to CNN about Taiwan's low-wage situation: "Taiwan’s economy has seen exceptional growth in recent years – and booming profits among tech businesses – average workers & employees in other sectors have been mostly left out, widening the income disparity."

4) China harps on WW2 but since WW2, China has sent soldiers into wars but Japan has not.

5) Since WW2, China has killed tens of millions of citizens but Japan has not.

6) China accuses Japan of militarism but it's the one building illegal military bases in contested territory.

I've created posters to fight China's propaganda:

1) China's claims over Taiwan have no legal basis.

2) China has a history of misinterpreting and violating international agreements for its own territorial expansion.

3) A simpler version explaining Taiwan's independence.

In any case, it's good to know where people stand on the position of Taiwan. From a rights-based perspective, you cannot deny people's basic rights to self-determination, especially not in the face of an entity (CCP) that exists by denying citizens to vote for their legitimacy.

Thing about pro-CCP people is they try to persuade you by preying on what they think are your fears, but when you insist on using logic, it falls apart and they then resort to calling you names or labeling you as evasive or illogical, even as it is they who display these traits.

A quick note that while Taiwan faces transboundary political persecution, it also needs to reevaluate its ideological positions, to ensure that it does not undermine its standing among other countries, and to gain support from as many countries. 8/

But non-Western countries should realize that CCP's attempts at reshaping the world can threaten the safety of their own diplomats & citizens, if the counterbalance from aligned-democracies is weakened, and countries should evaluate whether their prostration to CCP is prudent. 7/

There is still the concern from countries aligned to China or which do not want to offend China, such as my prime minister stating his opposition to Taiwan's independence, but this will only narrow the rules-based order which they want to operate in. 6/

China triples detentions of Taiwanese - Taipei Times Bringing Taiwan to the World and the World to Taiwan

Moreover, in the last year, the number of Taiwanese detained by CCP for legal affairs has tripled to close to 200, including ordinary citizens--which again signifies the growing scale of CCP's transboundary political persecution against Taiwanese. 4/

Compared with economically similar countries, Taiwan's wages are as low as half of theirs even though profits and housing prices are highest, or even twice as high. Their minimum wages have reached NT$45,000 but this is Taiwan's median wage and minimum wage is lower than NT$30,000.

Taiwan’s Wages Are Lower Than Countries with Similar GDP per Capita - Ketagalan Media In short, Taiwan needs to be genuine about its practice of human rights, and align its labor rights with its advocacy of democracy.

Taiwan's GDP per capita will surpass US$40,000 next year and its GDP per capita and cost of living is also similar to Spain, Slovenia and Japan today. But how do Taiwan's wages at the low and middle-income compare—I explore the data in this newest article.

MOFA rejects ‘Time’ ‘reckless leader’ label - Taipei Times Bringing Taiwan to the World and the World to Taiwan

As a long-time resident in Taiwan, it's clear that Lai Ching-te's rhetoric of Taiwan hasn't substantially changed from Tsai Ing-wen. What has clearly changed is the CCP has up its tempo with its aggression against Taiwan. This is clear when analyzing the data. 1/

It's easy to support another power in the hope that your own Western government will be weakened enough to do your bidding. In reality, the CCP is not fighting to just weaken your government, it's seeking to replace your world order, and using you as a pawn. 23/
