My sister was showing me her drawings. She's been drawing this witchy black cat and saying "it's me"

Like WOW the contrast in sonas

To end this, I just want to remind y'all that you aren't alone. There are folks that genuinely care for you.

There are people out there that will support you.

There's strength in numbers. We're one big force together.

She's looking more confident in herself.

To the point of learning that she stood up to her bullies at school today. I'm fucking hype. I'm so proud of her for doing something I was never able to do.

School tried to do something about it, but I'm glad to hear that she's not getting punished. ⏭️

She told me she was afraid to live in a world that hates her for wanting to be who she wants to be.

My heart genuinely sank.

I wanna teach her about the beauties of a community, about strength in family and friends. To be as strong as a pillar, but to learn to lean on others when needed. ⏭️

Her expression changes, from sad to curious. She starts asking a lot of questions, I answer them back.

She seems a lot more calm, and she hugs me back. Like, not a forced hug, but rather something that genuinely came from the bottom of her heart. ⏭️

I show her my fursona (obviously keeping this anonymously, and without showing her anything that she shouldn't be watching).

She never expected her big brother to be a pink bunny on the internet.

I show her my pictures of me and my friends in VR, pictures of us together, as a community. ⏭️

It's not the first time this has happened. Furries for the longest time have been a taboo in Latino Countries, and even until today, they've been meme'd to death.

I pulled my sister to the side. She was crying. I confess to her about being in a "very similar situation" ⏭️

It's been almost a month since therians have come up in the latino community.

"Inoffensive memes" about the community. Lots of misinformation, as well as guided hatred towards them.

My parents were very concerned about the actual mental damage my sister was taking due to the wave of hatred. ⏭️

"We don't want to fuck up again, we never meant to hurt you" they said. "We don't want to hurt her."

So I've been helping them. I've been on the sidelines watching her grow and I'm very proud of both of my parents for wanting to be better at this.

They've done a great job. ⏭️

My family was surprised, as both her and I don't really interact as much anymore.

They've been telling me about her journey discovering herself as a person and I'm happy to hear about her growth.

They've been so interested, that they've asked me for advice regarding our situation. ⏭️

My family knows about me being a furry and what I do for a living, they support me; this wasn't always the case, but they've grown very fond of my art and the furry community as a whole.

My youngest sister recently came out as a therian to my family. ⏭️

I can look into sending these to folks in the US as well, for those interested 🩷
