It's a diving predatory aquatic bird about the size and shape of a small duck but with an elegant more stream-lined shape and a medium long, sharp-pointed bill that has been described as dagger-like. My hunch after visiting several rock shelters used by indigenous people is that any near resources or rivers/sea/lakes were used by humans over millennia. Quick shelter is itself a rich resource for people out hunting and foraging. They knew all of them I’m sure.
