Never felt like a meaner dog owner than when the clocks changed and now my dog is forced to wait an extra hour for dinner, every single day, for reasons he cannot ever comprehend.

Have you ever seen a wren have a bath? No? Nor had I till just now. Filmed through a rain-spotted window & on my phone, so not perfect, but hope it brings you a spot of delight nonetheless πŸͺΆ

It’s made me very aware ever since of how alienating and confusing a lot of Christian jargon is, even the stuff directed at non&new Christians, and the survey responses went on to inform how that church directed things like Alpha courses which was great.

One of the most eye-opening things my church youth group ever did was give us a few words/phrases (mine were β€˜salvation’, β€˜grace’, and β€˜recieve Christ’) commonly used in churches, and go out and ask random people on the streets for their definitions and feelings about them.

The @theclpe.bsky.social Reflecting Realities report is an essential read each year. Please share it with colleagues in schools and look at the books currently available to pupils. They deserve authentic representation in the books they find on the classroom shelves. clpe.org.uk/research/clp...

My latest article for Educate magazine is all about how children choose books. It was inspired by this wonderful blog from David Reedy and Alice Reedy: collins.co.uk/blogs/the-bo...

This is so true. 99% of book bans have the intended effect: you never hear about those books again. The 1% of banned books that become infamous bestsellers elsewhere are not the norm.

What is common knowledge in your field but shocks outsiders?

It is good and proper in a well-kept library to dispose of books.

Everyone in the past was neurotypical, which is how we got things like this single-author, eight-volume encyclopedia of ferns

Most parents don’t enjoy reading to their children, survey suggests Report from Nielsen and HarperCollins shows that parents see reading as a literacy skill, rather than something to encourage their children to love

Long thread alert🧡
I’ve been sitting on thoughts about this, but feel a need to post after the all too predictable parent bashing comments in the underbelly of social media.
