People tend to balk at stuff that's easily missable or not clearly signposted in games but in my experience with my own project, people have loved stumbling into secrets they didn't know were there

Exactly. Not showing and telling everything to players is good.

Bomberman 64's soundtrack goes so hard, you don't understand. One of my fav OST's from my childhood.
