Futurist. Writer. Created BANI. Lead Author, NAVIGATING THE AGE OF CHAOS. Not as funny as he thinks he is. Probably won't follow-back unless he knows you. Sorry.

27.02.2026 21:08 β π 383 π 101 π¬ 3 π 25Take an hour out of your day to listen to this Newsweek interview with @edzitron.com. His indignant energy is captivating, and his insights into why the "AI" industry is absolutely fucked are compelling.
Plus, he does a surprisingly good DJT impression.

For those of us old enough to remember the show "Welcome Back, Kotter," the claim that you don't want to check out Epstein's Locker has taken on an entirely new, and somehow worse, meaning.
25.02.2026 16:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think that:
"And, for an instant, she stared directly into those soft blue eyes and knew, with an instinctive mammalian certainty, that the exceedingly rich were no longer even remotely human." (Count Zero) is the @greatdismal.bsky.social quote I keep coming back to the most... Almost daily TBH
Yeah, the crossover between those folks and the Brockman/EDGE people and the Epstein crowd is way too big.
24.02.2026 23:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If you haven't, you should check out Iain M. Banks' 2010 novel, *Surface Detail*. Part of the story revolves around the creation of artificial Hells to forever punish the digital copies of now-dead people. It's an unsettling extrapolation of the combo of digital ghosts, AI that feels, and revenge.

24.02.2026 23:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As more about that whole monstrous mess gets made public, I hope the people who took his money despite his crimes, telling themselves that it's okay because they didn't visit the island or whatever, find it harder and harder to sleep at night. (4/4)
24.02.2026 22:47 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What's a little more surprising, and much more depressing, is just how many of those names are people who took Epstein's money *after* his conviction for procuring a child for prostitution, even congratulating him on his release from prison. There are some things that are simply unacceptable. (3/4)
24.02.2026 22:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Of the two people I know who *did* visit the island, or have been accused of doing so, one is a professor I had literally 40 years ago, the other died a few years ago. I suspect that I probably know a few more people that did, and lots of people I'm friend-of-a-friend-of who did. (2/4)
24.02.2026 22:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0It doesn't come as a huge surprise to me, given the SF (San Francisco/Science Fiction, your pick) circles in which I traveled in past years, that I keep stumbling upon names of people I know personally on the "didn't visit the island, but took money" Epstein lists. (1/4)
24.02.2026 22:47 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0As much as I would be amused to see it happen tonight (YKWIM), for me it would be the final piece of evidence that (1) we live in a simulation, and (2) the entity operating the sim has gotten bored and has decided to just fuck with us, like throwing tornados and kaiju at your city in SimCity.
