Yeah, the crossover between those folks and the Brockman/EDGE people and the Epstein crowd is way too big.

If you haven't, you should check out Iain M. Banks' 2010 novel, *Surface Detail*. Part of the story revolves around the creation of artificial Hells to forever punish the digital copies of now-dead people. It's an unsettling extrapolation of the combo of digital ghosts, AI that feels, and revenge.

What's a little more surprising, and much more depressing, is just how many of those names are people who took Epstein's money *after* his conviction for procuring a child for prostitution, even congratulating him on his release from prison. There are some things that are simply unacceptable. (3/4)

Of the two people I know who *did* visit the island, or have been accused of doing so, one is a professor I had literally 40 years ago, the other died a few years ago. I suspect that I probably know a few more people that did, and lots of people I'm friend-of-a-friend-of who did. (2/4)

As much as I would be amused to see it happen tonight (YKWIM), for me it would be the final piece of evidence that (1) we live in a simulation, and (2) the entity operating the sim has gotten bored and has decided to just fuck with us, like throwing tornados and kaiju at your city in SimCity.

Especially First Edition AD&D, where there was officially a hard limit of level 14, and only one Druid could have it at a time.
