I still miss Apple Panic. Some days you just want to beat a smily face over the head with a shovel. πŸ˜„

I don't think I ever used a Tandy. I started programming on a TRS-80, and then moved on to an Apple IIe.

An uphill struggle I have when teaching word processing (or most recently, PowerPoint) is to get students to just push buttons and see what happens. They're overwhelmed and afraid of breaking something. Introducing ctrl-z helps a bit.

It also shows up with students learning to use word processors and such. You open an app, and it does what it says on the tin. In a word processor, there are tons of options you have to choose from and control.

I think this substantially affects relationships to AI. Command prompt people can recognize that an AI prompt is a program to be tweaked until it does what you want. Interface people struggle with that concept because they're used to apps that just do the thing, whatever it is.

I encountered an interesting distinction among computer users. Those of us who started on PCs in the 80s are the command prompt generation. We see computers as understandable tools we control. Those who came after are the interface generation who see computers as appliances that work mysteriously.

I would probably try it again if I came across a dark chocolate version.

I tried Dubai #chocolate. I really like pistachios. It's okay, but the #pistachio flavor is drowned by the sweetness and chocolate. It's not worth the premium price.

For some reason the address 1313 Mockingbird Lane popped into my head. That ages me. πŸ˜‚

A tumbled heap of clean clothes on a bed covered with a purple and white patterned bedspread. There is a furry orange leg just visible under the heap.

Most of these cultivars have sterile seeds, but they reproduce by rhizomes as well.

They rely on UV markers in the patterning to attract pollinators rather than scent.

The white ones are new. I've never seen pure white hellebores before.

An overhead view of a shallow, scalloped white bowl filled with water, holding a dozen floating flowers arranged in a loose circle. The blooms vary in color and pattern, including deep purple, plum, pink, white, green, and variegated petals with speckles and dark edges. Each flower has a prominent cluster of pale yellow stamens at the center. The bowl sits outdoors on a rough stone path with moss growing between the stones.

First hellebore float of the season. They're usually more staggered and my first float has half this many or less. Warm winter hurried them along. #BloomScrolling #Hellebore #Gardening

A close-up, top-down photo of a person wearing a dark zip-up hoodie over a purple shirt lounging on a gray crash pillow. A tan-and-white dog is wedged snugly under the person’s lower back, with her head tucked under the person’s left arm and her legs sticking out on the other side. The dog’s eyes reflect the camera light, and her body position makes her look like affectionate, living lumbar support.

A wooded garden scene in early spring. In the center is a small plum tree covered with delicate pink blossoms on bare branches. To the left is a contorted filbert with many long, pale yellow catkins hanging down. Behind them is a dense backdrop of tall evergreen trees with dark green foliage. In the foreground on the right, a small pineapple-shaped ceramic bird feeder with cutout patterns hangs from a wooden post. The ground is covered with mulch, fallen leaves, and garden debris, with a gravel path partially visible.

I sat down with my student who melted down in Zoom last night and found out why. He has an eye condition that makes screens hard to use, so he has problems with Zoom and with typing his research paper. We're sorting it out. #Teaching #Accomodation #Disability

I had to step on a student tonight. I hate doing that. He went off on a rant about not having enough time for his project. I had a mute button, though. <sigh>
