Found a model shop selling Peco backscenes 🎉 Grabbed a few and stuck them onto some spare plywood. The sticking job isn’t perfect 😅 but they make great backdrops for my portable gaming setup 🎲🌄

Totally feel this. The railings were awful - incomplete cuts meant loads of breakages and repairs. Fortunately I had some spare vines lying around to cover up the breaks.
The canopy framework was just as bad, ended up using more glue than MDF to get it all to hold together!

The image shows a small tabletop terrain setup featuring detailed MDF model pieces arranged in a shallow display box. The scene includes two wooden-style structures with green roofs—one resembling a platform shelter and the other a small building with a porch and trolley. In front of them are several parallel lengths of model train track laid over textured green flocking that represents grass. The box edges have decorative printed patterns, and the name “Tweedyard” is written along the front edge.
The image shows a tabletop terrain layout featuring several sections of MDF model railway track arranged on a textured green grass‑effect surface. The tracks include straight pieces as well as multiple curved and wavy sections, all with a worn, weathered look.
The image shows a section of tabletop terrain featuring several detailed MDF fence pieces arranged on a textured grass‑effect surface. The fences have an ornate, wrought‑iron style with pointed finials along the top. Some sections are decorated with small vines or foliage, giving them an aged, overgrown appearance.

Spent the past week building a Warcradle MDF terrain kit.
👍Great value (£27), pre‑painted pieces.
👎Fragile parts⚠️ and incomplete cuts required careful scalpel 🔪work.
Looks solid on the table. Downside: no painting time because I’ve been assembling non-stop!

The image shows two fantasy‑themed miniatures placed on a patch of textured green terrain.
The larger piece is a stone‑like gargoyle statue with folded wings and its arms resting atop an ornate shield decorated with interwoven Celtic-style knot patterns. The base of the statue features matching carved knotwork, giving it the appearance of an ancient or mystical monument.
Next to it stands a much smaller miniature figure resembling a fantasy dwarf warrior. The dwarf is painted in light colours, holding a raised weapon and wearing a long white beard and flowing robes.
Picked this up over the weekend during a visit to Warwick Castle 🏰. Thought it would make a great addition to my fantasy gaming table ⚔️🐉. Big enough to stand out, but not so large that it gets in the way - perfect terrain piece! 🎲✨

This image shows a painted miniature of a motorcycle police officer riding a white patrol bike. The focus is on the front of the motorcycle, which features a weathered look with worn paint, a blue-tinted windshield, and small red and blue emergency lights mounted on the front. The figure is gripping the handlebars, and the scene is set against a blurred urban-style backdrop, giving the impression of motion or a city street environment.
The image shows a painted miniature figure riding a detailed motorcycle. The bike has a rugged, weathered look with muted grey and white tones, a front fender, a clear blue-tinted windshield, and intricate wheel and engine detailing. The rider is wearing a brown jacket and a helmet, extending one arm outward while holding a small firearm. The background appears to be an urban scene with illuminated signs and silhouettes of people, giving the impression of a city at night.
Slim pickings on the painting bench this week 🎨✈️ Work and travel slowed me down, but I did finish these two US motorcycle cops 🚓🛵. Pretty sure they’re old Westwind sculpts and I’ve successfully avoided painting them for about 15 years 😅!

The image shows four painted 28mm fantasy/medieval miniatures standing in a line on round scenic bases. Each figure is equipped and dressed like a rugged Northman warrior. The group includes:
A warrior in a blue tunic holding a torch and a sword.
Two warriors in matching maroon‑red tunics with helmets—one wielding a sword, the other carrying a tall green banner featuring a golden lion.
Another warrior in a darker outfit, armed with a sword and posed as if advancing cautiously.
They’re set against a scenic backdrop of rolling hills, forests, and a river, giving the whole display a classic tabletop‑wargaming atmosphere. The bases are textured with grass, stones, and earthy scatter to create a natural, outdoor look.

The image shows a small group of three painted 28mm fantasy/medieval miniatures arranged on a scenic base. They appear to be light infantry or archer‑type figures, styled as classic “Merrymen” or woodland outlaws. Each miniature is posed holding a bow, with hooded cloaks and tunics painted in earthy greens, browns, and reds.
The figures stand on a textured rectangular base covered with realistic forest scatter—bits of foliage, twigs, static grass, and leaf litter—placed on a grassy tabletop gaming surface. Behind them is a backdrop depicting rolling hills and a wooded landscape, giving the scene a Sherwood‑Forest feel.

The image shows three sci‑fi miniature figures standing on a grassy tabletop surface. Each model is painted in a bright blue and neon‑green colour scheme with armour plates, gear pouches, and high‑tech details. The figures are armed—one holds a pistol at the ready, another carries a compact firearm with additional equipment on their chest, and the third raises an arm as if signalling or issuing a command. They stand in front of a rocky, alien‑landscape backdrop, giving the scene a post‑apocalyptic or off‑world atmosphere.

Still really proud of these two! 🎨💪
Painted back in the 1990s using classic Humbrol enamel paints. The only upkeep they’ve had since then is fresh bases and a little touch‑up on the flocking.
Amazing how well they’ve held up over the years! ⚔️🛡️✨

Especially when you consider that SG‑1 seasons 9–10 nearly became another spinoff called Stargate Command. I heard the producers wanted to a reset in tone and focus, and a cheaper “new show.” Marketing costs killed the rebrand, so it stayed SG‑1, but season 9 was treated like a fresh start.

The first image shows a square tabletop gaming board with a grass‑effect playing surface. The board is framed by raised edges covered in a stone‑pattern material. The grassy texture appears uneven and naturalistic, resembling a pasture or field. Near the centre of the board there is a small painted miniature figure placed for scale. The board is resting on a fabric-covered surface, such as a sofa or upholstered seat.
The second image shows the same board flipped over to reveal its alternate side. This surface is covered in a cobblestone-style printed texture, giving the appearance of a paved urban area. Two of the raised edges are lined with a hedge-like green material, while the other two edges retain the stone-pattern covering. A miniature figure is again placed near the centre for scale. Like the first image, the board is positioned on a soft upholstered background.

The image shows three painted tabletop miniatures posed on round bases, arranged in a line and photographed against a gritty, urban street backdrop.
Center figure: The focal miniature depicts a tough, battle-ready character in a wide, aggressive stance. One arm is extended forward aiming a pistol, while the other holds a blade, suggesting a moment of close-quarters action. The figure wears layered, rugged clothing with armor-like elements, straps, and pouches, painted in earthy tones with metallic accents that emphasize a hardened, scavenger or fighter aesthetic.
Left figure: This miniature appears to be moving away or turning aside, with a more dynamic, twisting posture. The outfit is slimmer and more stylized, featuring a long coat or jacket in purples and blues, with fitted trousers and boots. The pose suggests stealth or retreat, adding contrast to the central figure’s confrontational stance.
Right figure: The third miniature is mid-motion, arms out as if running or dodging. It wears a sleeveless vest over layered clothing, with brighter colors—yellows, reds, and greens—giving it a more rebellious or punk-inspired look. The stance conveys urgency and movement, as if reacting to danger.
The bases are textured and neutral, grounding the figures without distracting from them. The background is a blurred, dilapidated city street—cracked pavement, worn buildings, and muted lighting—which enhances the sense of a post-apocalyptic or crime-ridden setting and makes the miniatures stand out as the clear subjects of the scene.
The image depicts three painted tabletop miniatures arranged side by side on round bases, set against a dark, urban street backdrop that evokes a gritty, dystopian environment.
Overall scene
The figures stand on a textured surface resembling paving stones, while the background shows a rundown city street with shopfronts, posters, and shadowy silhouettes of people, reinforcing a sense of urban decay and tension. The lighting and shallow depth of field draw attention to the miniatures, making them the clear focus of the scene.
Individual figures
Left miniature: This character wears a long, tailored coat in vivid purple tones, paired with boots and fitted clothing. The pose is confident and upright, with one arm raised, suggesting defiance or command. A small animal—possibly a dog—stands close by at the character’s feet, adding personality and narrative detail.
Center miniature: The middle figure appears hunched and menacing, leaning forward as if stalking or advancing. The clothing looks worn and patched together, with layered fabrics and muted colors that suggest hardship or survival in a harsh environment. The pose and posture convey aggression and menace, as though the character is ready to strike.
Right miniature: This figure stands with an arm extended, holding a curved staff or crowbar-like tool. The outfit is more colorful, featuring stripes and contrasting tones, and includes accessories such as straps and gear that imply scavenging or street combat. The stance is assertive and dynamic, suggesting leadership or confrontation.
The image shows a single painted tabletop miniature standing on a round base, photographed against a scenic, natural backdrop.
The figure is posed dynamically, with both arms raised as if bracing, attacking, or reacting to an incoming threat. It wears layered, rugged clothing that suggests a fantasy or post‑apocalyptic setting: a heavy tunic or padded armor over long sleeves, reinforced gloves, and sturdy boots. Around the waist are multiple pouches and straps, implying a practical, survival‑oriented character.
The lower garments are especially striking, painted in bold, weathered colors—greens, reds, and purples—giving the impression of patched or scavenged fabric. Careful shading and highlights bring out folds, wear, and texture across the clothing, adding depth and realism to the miniature.
The base is simple and dark, keeping attention on the figure itself. Behind it, the painted background depicts a natural landscape with trees, rock formations, and soft greenery, contrasting with the gritty, battle‑ready stance of the character and enhancing the sense that this is a lone figure caught in a tense moment within a broader world.
The image shows three painted tabletop miniatures standing on round bases, arranged in a tight formation against a science‑fiction desert landscape backdrop.
Overall composition
The figures are positioned on a textured, grassy surface that contrasts with the pale, alien terrain in the background, which features sweeping sands and unusual rock formations. The composition suggests a patrol or command group operating in a harsh, otherworldly environment.
Individual figures
Center figure: The central miniature appears to be a commanding or authoritative character. It wears a long, heavy coat with layered details, medals or insignia on the chest, and sturdy boots. One hand holds a small handheld device as if issuing orders, scanning data, or giving instructions. The upright posture and central placement reinforce a leadership role.
Left figure: This miniature is posed in motion, leaning slightly forward as if moving briskly. It wears practical, utilitarian clothing with padded elements and carries a short weapon or tool. The dynamic stance conveys alertness and readiness.
Right figure: The third figure mirrors the alert energy of the left one, holding a longer weapon at the ready. The outfit matches the utilitarian, rugged theme, with layered clothing and sturdy footwear suited to rough terrain.
This week, a gritty lineup of 10 painted tabletop miniatures comes to life: urban dwellers, scavengers, leaders, and loners posed in decaying streets, wild fantasy landscapes, and alien worlds - each bursting with story, detail, and character ⚔️🎨🧟♂️🌆🌌

The image shows two additional painted miniatures in front of a neon‑lit urban backdrop.
Left miniature: A character in a purple long coat, yellow shirt, and blue trousers. They’re holding a hooked weapon in one hand and have a slightly forward‑leaning stance, suggesting motion or confrontation.
Right miniature: A bulkier, armored figure wearing a combination of red and dark clothing with a blue helmet. Their pose is more compact, as if bracing or preparing to move.
The image shows two painted tabletop miniatures posed against an urban street backdrop.
Left miniature: A stocky figure wearing a bright orange hooded vest over dark clothing. They’re holding a meat cleaver raised in one hand and a frying pan in the other, giving them a chaotic, improvised‑weapon vibe.
Right miniature: A taller, more menacing figure with purple hair and outstretched arms. The miniature is painted in browns, blues, and greens, with an overall rugged, mutated, or post‑apocalyptic appearance.
Both figures stand on painted round bases placed on a textured ground mat resembling cobblestone.
Only four minis painted this week, but I’m loving how they turned out! ⚒️🖌️ These gritty characters slip perfectly into a Cyberpunk or Judge Dredd‑style world with neon, chaos, and street justice vibes included. ⚡🚨
