Don't be silly! Being a teacher (if willing to learn from your students), being a nurse (if not Ratched) & being a doctor (if truly concerned with patients & not making money off them) are all worthy. The problem is: capitalism organizes them in a hierarchy that screws them, students & patients.

Not in a hierarchically organized society like this one that values egoism & self-advancement. But imagine one with far fewer such kids & adults, because it's full of folks with empathy & lots of time & energy for caring for others (far less work).

My point is that what you "give back" need not be "work" but other kinds of contribution, e.g., thoughtful interventions in social media, like this one. What most folks value is far more diverse than "work" - the essential means by which capitalist seek to control us all.
