There were 2 crashes the same year at a small airport where I worked in the tower years back. One was a small plane that bounced and flipped during landing. Another was a small plane landing in low visibility missing the runway on Christmas Eve. Just minor injuries to all. Single pilots in each.

I’m sure NTSB has plenty of public records. I don’t have the time to go digging up stats. But I can say that accidents at small regional airports are pretty common with small aircraft that have a single pilot. Sometimes pilot error, sometimes weather caused. News is just filling it more now.

We need longer, more comprehensive training programs to prep people for these careers. And need to have higher wages plus investment in recruiting to attract young people who currently wanna just be computer programmers. Get them in a largely unionized industry and reduce capitalism brain rot.
