They can feed the text into an LLM product and search for a certain set of words and get a summary of the abstracts.

B. One wetting is enough. But then, my dentist says that I have a high salivary output. Sorry about the TMI.

At the end of the FY, with grants management offices cut up the bone? This is so stupid.

They also emphasized the importance of diversity in the workforce. I don't know if the other Senators or House members have the stomach to go to the mat to cut biomedical research and give up the dollars that go to their states. Maybe a lesson is that pushback works. Many thanks!

Here are some of the highlights of the appropriations bill that the Senate appropriations committee just approved:

$48.7 billion for NIH, an increase of $400 million

Rejects the proposal to cap
indirect cost rates at 15%

Includes a provision to prevent MYF that would reduce the number of grants

Thank you! We’re all trying our best and missing our colleagues who were let go.

I agree. We are still stuck in the “dark ages” paradigm.

There are Title 42 or SES levels, but this is the highest level on the civil service General Schedule scale. It’s a slap in the face.

I first learned of Tom Lehrer from a local Scout leader back when I was a teen, and it was notable because that was the time I found out that some respectable adults had warped senses of humor in their younger days.

When you call to thank them, also tell them to continue taking a stand by ensuring science funding isn’t further cut - demand a CLEAN CR w/ protections against rescission in September, and to SHUT IT DOWN, if necessary

Yeah, but my system for remembering my BP and other meds is foolproof. I put all the bottles on the cooktop each evening and whatever I take that evening goes back into cupboard. The next morning (or middle of the night) I just have to look at placement. That’s perfectly normal. Right?

Oh no! I was the summer after 4th grade and it was basically nonstop coughing for a couple of weeks.

I had M, M, & R as diseases* and got a titer check. Still sky high antibodies after all these years. Even though I also had whooping cough almost 60 years ago, I still had the DT with added aP when it was time.

*Do not recommend.

Starts around 13:18. USAID was dismantled because of a question on a census form in Bangladesh? Is it possible that varying health outcomes might be due to socioeconomic factors, so NIH efforts to foster a diverse work force should be abandoned?

Computers can calculate all the Ks for 8, 20, whatever compartment models just by looking at the structure! Down to the 39th place! 🙄 How many steps are we from them fudging the rules on human testing in vulnerable populations?

NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya used sickle cell disease research as an example of something he would not call DEI and cut. It's being cut.

Racial Pseudoscience on the Faculty Despite arguing for a decade that Black people are intellectually inferior, this professor rose through the ranks. What finally got him fired?

The controversy about the pseudoscientist hacking Mamdani’s application has a lot to say about science.

Specifically, about scientific consensus and the value of strong scientific institutions.
