05.12.2025 11:28 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I donโt care for the list itself (as it does not contain Paddington 2 and thus I cannot take it seriously anyway) but I once again ask for an alleged best-of-x-list to titled โbest-of-English-language-x-listโ.

02.12.2025 19:43 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0There is a beautiful childrenโs book โhinter verzauberten Fensternโ (behind enchanted windows) by Cornelia Funke in which the protagonist gets such an advent calendar while her brother gets one with chocolate (unfair!). But then she falls into the world of the calendar every night. Lovely book!
01.12.2025 17:45 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Utterly beautiful advent calendar showing a forest at night: a bare tree in the foreground with lots of woodland creatures, brambles and winter berries, with a dark sky with falling snow in the background
Close up on an open door on an advent calendar. A little curled up mouse shelters among winter leaves.
Picture-based advent calendars: hugely underrated

30.11.2025 14:05 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0rich dudes got freakier after butlers fell out of fashion, like say what you will about having domestic servants but clearly it was some sort of moderating force on old rich dudes having a fancy man follow you around saying shit like "oh dear sir, that wouldn't be very becoming"

This is likely going to be my album of the year. Lost count of how many times I had it on the turntable. Beautiful work and I probably would have missed out on it if it wasnโt for the people I follow on here

(from my presentation at the IMF last week)
I think that would be a Weihnachtswรผrstchenbaum as we never use โFleischโ for Sausages.
Funnily enough if you buy a Weihnachtswรผrstchen from a Weihnachtswรผrstchenbaum and put it on your Weihnachtsbaum youโll have Weihnachtsbaumwรผrstchen.
Usually I find Jazz-with-an-orchestra-records to be almost unlistenable. This record from 1958 is a welcome exception (โ91, Japanese reissue). Beautifully laidback and only almost kitschy.* Perfect for days which are both dark and rainy.
*no guarantees, might be very kitschy
I donโt follow Joe Rogan at all but Iโve never seen him looking so worried about a guest heโs had.

22.11.2025 12:52 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0An advert for a European Beret. Think Frank Spencer if he was played by Maurice Chevalier
Every week this advert seems to be in The New Yorker. Every week (without fail) it makes me laugh. The most New Yorker advert in the New Yorker.

- Japanese samurai extravaganza
- Rappers trying out acting
