Oh my god, my technical drawing class was very much the same. Utterly joyless.

Perversely, Religious Education became one of my favourite subjects because we went into, albeit on a surface level, the beliefs and customs of different cultures.

It didn’t make me a believer, but the subject was very engaging and I think I took some of that with me from school.

This is a different scrnario, but there’s something I’ve learned, which school didn’t teach me about art. By learning about artists, their processes and the times they were in, I developed a greater interest in their work.

I tried to like art at school and I was terrible.

My mental state? Oh just watching super cuts of interviews with Denise Gough and Kyle Soller, or Yerin Ha and Luke Thompson, in between regional BBC reports about the supernatural from the 70s and 80s.

I’m very much 4-6 hours too, aside from a late-teen/early 20s blip. I put this mainly down to revenge bedtime procrastination, but maybe it’s changing as I age.
