I'm thrilled to share our new paper (Adriaenssens et al., Nat Cell Biol 2025).

This paper describes a new mechanism for the initiation of autophagosome biogenesis.

We found that this WIPI-ATG13-driven pathway is preferentially used by a group of transmembrane autophagy receptors.

Thrilled to announce that our Cluster of Excellence CIBSS – Centre for Integrative Biological Signalling Studies @cibss.bsky.social will continue to receive funding for another seven years! We’re happy to be part of such a great team!

We are thrilled to have just found out: CIBSS has secured continued funding under the #ExcellenceStrategy! This major boost will enable us to accelerate our research into biological signalling and lay the groundwork for next-generation insights from 2026 to 2032!

From May 5–8, 2025, the Cryo EM facility of #unifreiburg hosted an introductory workshop supported by SFB 1381 to learn how to access and use this cutting-edge technology. Hands-on sessions covered everything from sample prep to data analysis. Big thanks to the facility!
