I also have heard coworkers say things like this. I also note that I’m old enough to remember when “Jesus is coming soon” was trotted out as an excuse for not caring about the environment or the social fabric of the nation.

Lotta folks gonna be very disappointed when the earth and the air are poisoned, millions are dead or cursed with future ailments, and Jesus still refuses to show up. (But of course the true believers will always find excuses/explanations.)

Between this news, US war crimes in Iran, and the driver’s license law in Kansas, I am very much not OK right at the present moment.

Thinking that assassinating an Ayatollah will bring down the entire Iranian regime is like thinking that the death of a Pope would bring down the Roman Catholic Church.

Meanwhile, son and I are working towards moving, too: from Kentucky to Utah. Which is more of a “escaping from pirates only to land among sharks” situation.

Gotta admit, this has me a bit shaken up. It’s probably a smart move, given the way things are going in the U.S. But it really drives home just how bad things are. Also, I’m really going to miss them.

Why did they bomb a school? The American people need answers.

Gonna improvise a rice/mornay/broccoli/cauliflower casserole for dinner church tomorrow. Plus maple-glazed baby carrots, which people can choose to regard as either a side or dessert.

Just learned that a dear friend is joining the expatriate exodus. (They and teen kiddo are moving permanently to France.) If I were a bit younger and better-resourced, I’d be envious.
