I don't knit nearly as much lace as I used to (there's a limit on how many lace shawls one can store/give away) but I've probably made hundreds over the years.

I know I'm too old to make a big fuss about birthdays, but being woken up by the cat at 4:30 am followed by him (thankfully half heartedly) attacking my ankles doesn't feel like the best way to start the day...

Few wobbles on the way, but I'm doing okay. In the middle of house purchase limbo as I've finally made the decision to move back closer to family.

Neither did I until I looked it up! Basically, the tendon between the base of my thumb and my wrist is inflamed - hopefully rest and a few weeks in a brace will take care of things.

No knitting or crochet for me for a while, as it looks like I'm suffering from De Quervain's tenosynovitis so my left thumb is going to be in a brace for a bit. So I've broken out the felt pens for a bit of old school analogue pixel art...

That is beautiful! I look forward to seeing it post transformation - as a lace knitter the blocking process feels nothing short of magical

For those who are interested, the pattern is SugarPlumFairy by Andrea Jurgrau and the yarn is my own hand spun - a 3ply light lace weight using fibre from Posh Yarn.

A knitted lace shawl in progress rests on a sleeping cat. The yarn being used is slightly striped in blue, green and purple, but these stripes are much less pronounced in real life than they are in the photo. It doesn't look like much, but lace never does until it has been blocked.

Trying to keep the brain weasels quiet by working on a long-neglected WIP. Not entirely sure that an enormo shawl where every right side row is charted separately is exactly soothing, but it certainly keeps the mind occupied.

With the proviso that it was a feck of a long time ago, and I am now An Old, so exact course titles are lost to the mists of time:

With bonus points for anyone who can guess what degree I did...

Stupid bad dreams that won't let go of me, so I was up and making coffee just after 4am. Still feeling rather unsettled and on edge - hopefully some undemanding TV will help dislodge the fear...
