Transphobia and gender policing are both very bad.

idk about you but it gets tiring for me to see the queer character in everything's character arc revolve around suffering due to their identity. It's validating for sure! But comfort food also has merit. That is just my opinion, though.

I know some people complain about stories written by baby gays with nothing to say about the queer experience, but I think stories that include queer ppl and treat it as normal are just as important as commentary. If straight ppl can exist in fiction w/o justification, queer ppl should too.

You've all been great, sticking with us this far. Your patience and support means more to us than we could ever express.
So it's time we paid that back!

The lack of development for him is insane. I'm 25 eps in which is like.,..8ish hours of watch time. You're telling me that over the last year on the run, 8 hours of screen time, he develops minimally? He does not feel like a person inside a show that has multiple well thought out characters.

I think Tenma is my biggest issue. He's just not interesting at all because the narrative only reaffirms that he's the goodest guy ever. I feel nothing but annoyance for him. Each episode where he's minimally present have been my favorites so far and I don't think it's a coincidence.

Also Tenma is a fucking idiot and he is on thin ice with me right now.

4 separate times something good is about to happen to a character, two of which is Tenma getting them a gift, only for UH OH SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED at the last second. It would be so much more interesting if things went wrong during said good thing or right afterwards. THE POTENTIAL DRAMA WASTED

Now 14 episodes in.

This show consistently goes the most boring route every fucking time with each scenerio. I'm starting to get sick of it. The back half of this show better be perfect to warrant all this praise.

I'm not allergic to liking universally acclaimed anime; Mob Psycho, FMAB, and Chainsaw Man are some of my favorites. But idk I was expecting Monster to let me piece things together, not repeat ad nauseam. I'm determined to finish it either way and I'm still in the beginning so I'm holding out hope.

If I had a nickel for every time a character said "so let me get this straight" and then repeated exactly what Tenma told them, I'd have like 2 or 3 nickels and I'm not even a dozen episodes in. Idk if it's a dub problem or general writing problem, but either way...oof.

I wanna like it so bad you have no idea, but some of the decisions being made by Tenma and the amount of padding via repeated information is starting to irk me. Granted, this is a problem I have with most anime so it isn’t unique to Monster.

So, I started watching the anime Monster because I heard nothing but praise + the soundtrack is fucking awesome and.,,. I'm 7 episodes in. Does it get better? Because my pet peeves are starting to add up and it feels way too hand holdy.
