I wrote for @theAMRnarrative on 5 practical paediatric resolutions for the year ahead to tackle #AMR.
We need better education for both healthcare professionals & parents/carers to find balance between treating serious infections and preventing AMR.

Those of us with a platform have a responsibility to use our voices for those most vulnerable.
I am deeply touched by colleagues who reached out about my piece for the @rcpch.bsky.social Milestones Magazine. Grateful for the chance to reflect on child health within the #globalhealth agenda.
Wrapped up my Research Fellowship with the brilliant Paediatric Infectious Diseases team at Evelina Children’s Hospital last week!
Grateful for the mentors&colleagues who made this a turning point in my clinical/academic journey.
Now back to residency at GOSH and excited for what’s ahead!
WHA is still the most important platform where the future of #globalhealth is discussed. Yet, the voices of children are still often missing from the table.
I reflected on this in a viewpoint article with insights from the #WHA78!

In our latest BMJ Paeds Open piece - we explore how UK aid cuts are threatening global #childhealth.
We call on the UK govt, policymakers & #globalhealth community to rethink priorities & put children first.

Kicking off #ESPID2025 with the Opening Ceremony!
Excited for three full days dedicated to nothing but #PaediatricInfectiousDiseases and #Research!
If we expand coverage of existing vaccines (e.g. #pneumococcus, #typhoid, #rotavirus, #RSV) and invest in new ones (like for K. pneumoniae), we can save lives and reduce the global #AMR burden.
Prevention is power. #ESPID2025 #ESPIDInspires
@who.int @gardp.bsky.social
Vaccines are powerful tools to fight AMR. In S Africa, PCV10 and PVC13 led to an 82% drop in drug-resistant pneumococcal disease.
Rotavirus vaccine coverage in LMICs could prevent 18.3 million antibiotic-treated diarrhoea cases - just by stopping unnecessary antibiotic use.
+
2030 targets:
- 10% drop in AMR mortality
- 20% less inappropriate human antibiotic use
- 30% cut in animal antibiotic use
We need bold global action to meet these goals. #AMR2030 #ESPID2025

Excellent opening talk on #AMR at #ESPID2025!
- 7.7 million people die each year from bacterial infections.
- 4.95 million of these deaths are linked to #AMR!
- Burden is highest in LMICs.
750,000 AMR-linked deaths in LMICs are preventable every year with WASH and IPC. 🧵

Such a privilege to finally meet Prof Asha Bowen in person! Truly inspiring - I have been a huge admirer of her work for a long time as a young woman in #PaediatricInfectiousDiseases & #GlobalHealth!
#ESPID2025 #ESPIDInspires
The day starts with #YoungESPID AGM - ESPID and all the Young ESPID team members are doing an amazing job to support young #paediatricinfectiousdiseases professionals in education and research across Europe!
#ESPID2025 #ESPIDInspires
Come and find me at the Poster Hall at #ESPID2025 if you want to hear more about our project on #penicillinallergy delabelling & how it contributes to #AntimicrobialStewardship!

I am leaving #WHA78 behind with new knowledge and a renewed sense of purpose.
The work ahead is long - but it is shared. And that makes all the difference.
Thank you to all who made this week so special. 🤍
We keep showing up. Because the stakes are too high not to.
In this moment of uncertainty, solidarity isn’t optional. It’s how we move forward.
We won’t always agree. But we can stand together. That’s what matters most.
#WHA78
+
#WHA78 didn’t shy away from the hard truths;
– Progress is uneven.
– Trust in public health is shaken.
– Many of us are exhausted - from pandemics, politics and the pace of change.
And yet... no one is giving up.
+
One of the most special moments: reintroducing myself to Dr @drtedros.who.int - almost six years later again, but this time as a paediatrician. A full-circle moment I will never forget.
#WHA78

Last week at #WHA78 was surreal. Proud to have represented junior doctors as part of the @wma-jdn.bsky.social delegation and helped organise the pre-WHA workshop.
An honour - and a privilege I don’t take for granted. 🧵 @who.int @medwma.bsky.social
Just wrapped up a packed week at #WHA78 🌍
Now off to #ESPID2025 in Bucharest to present my work on penicillin allergy delabelling & #AMR and to lead a debate on postnatal #HIV prophylaxis.
Feeling very tired but deeply fulfilled!

Ending TB requires community trust, innovation and cross-border solidarity. TB doesn’t respect borders - neither can our response.
'Even the best AI can’t fix adherence. But it can help us know where to look, and who might be falling behind.'
But overall message was clear:
Technology isn’t the enemy - it’s the enabler.
Healthcare workers must be empowered, not replaced. Ethical, inclusive design is essential to build public trust. #DigitalHealth #AI

Indonesia saw its highest TB case notifications in history (2023–24). Their focus now?
Integration of TB data into one national health system, AI-supported diagnostics - and confronting stigma through civil society.
+
Japan reminded us of the long game:
In 1951, they passed the Stop TB law. Nationwide x-ray screening, patient registration & financial protection followed.
Their decades of experience now fuel global digital TB strategies. #WHA78

Philippines: “Equity must reach every level of care.” Digital tools are expanding access - but they are not enough without education, financing & sustained implementation.
+
India’s digital TB platform now supports 2.5M people - tracking adherence, outcomes & enabling rapid interventions.
AI-enabled cough tools & screening campaigns reached 790K+ - many of whom never sought care. A quiet revolution in early detection. #EndTB
