Bring the ‘D’ - decarbonisation - back to IAA!
Today, EVP Sejourne was meant to present EU's grand plan on Industrial Accelerator Act. But after delays, back-and-forths and more delays - today is not the day.
But worry not! Together with our members, we put together our wishes & demands for IAA.
Let's be clear: Environmental Omnibus weakens the rules set to keep us safe, our air breathable, our water clean and our nature alive.
The decision is heavily stained with fingerprints from the industry lobbyists.
Unfortunately, nature cannot buy such a political influence.

But:
❌No justice package
❌No roadmap to transition away from fossil fuels
❌Weak adaptation finance
❌No credible response to NDC ambition gap
❌‘Shuttle diplomacy’ & lack of transparent updates
🌍⚠️ #COP30 ends with small steps but no real breakthrough
👎A full year above 1.5°C wasn't enough to find an adequate agreement on phasing out #FossilFuels and financing adaptation
👍 the agreement on a #JustTransition mechasism is a silver lining

True leadership means showing up, from day one, for the whole package of #COP30 justice outcomes and not hiding behind trade-offs. So far, EU has not shown this true leadership.
The EU must step up its game to become the climate leader it claims to be. The clock is ticking, but it is not too late.

Our key takeaway is that the shortfall of the collective global emissions reduction and ecosystem protection is very grave.
Most striking thing is no surprise: EU's missing NDC. EU needs to get its house in order & support ambitious #COP30 outcome on all fronts.
EU leaders promised action on the housing crisis.
