to demand that they use their power under the state of emergency that they declared in October to protect tenants across the county!
Today the Board strengthened protections for tenants in unincorporated areas. We showed up to demand county-wide protections, and in response Lindsey Horvath said she will introduce a motion, to be voted on next week, to raise the evictable rent debt threshold to 3 months' FMR for the entire county.

ICE has been attacking our region since June and thousands of street vendors, day laborers, and immigrant businesses are struggling to pay the rent. Still, no rent relief has been distributed.
We demand the BOS increase the rent debt threshold to three months' rent for all of LA County!
On Tuesday's BOS agenda is a motion to increase the threshold to two months for unincorporated LA County. But the BOS has emergency powers under the state of emergency it passed in October, meaning it can
pass protections for the entire county - all 88 cities including the City of LA!
In L.A. City, we have an "evictable rent debt threshold": a tenant has to owe more than one month's fair market rent to be evicted. In unincorporated LA County they have the same protection.

On Tuesday the LA County Board of Supervisors will vote on whether to increase the amount a tenant has to be behind on rent before a landlord can evict them. We demand county-wide protections!

LA rent relief is coming. But as immigration raids continue, it might not close the gap.
Tenant organizers are still pressuring County leadership to pass an eviction moratorium.

LAPD can continue to use military weapons, foam bullets and tear gas after City Council vote.
The LA City Council voted 8-4 to let LAPD keep using foam bullets and tear gas despite documented misuse during this summerβs anti-ICE protests and over $50M in civil rights violation payouts last year.
The Trump admin has been clear that its mass deportation agenda relies not just on detentions but on making life so impossible for immigrants that they choose to self-deport.
@lacountybos.bsky.social 's inaction has worked hand in glove with ICE to bring that strategy to life.
A speaker from the Rent Brigade shared the story of Magda, a street vendor who felt she had no choice but to self-deport after receiving six eviction notices, leaving behind a daughter who cannot receive adequate medical care in Guatemala. She may never see her in person again.
