I didn’t think I read that much bc I read a lot of short fics, but I learned recently that 5500 words a day is over 2 million words a year, which is double the (supposed) US average and I’m like oh, actually I read that much before I get out of bed most mornings, so… noted.

Oh yes! I think I’m going to try to figure out a way to track my reading for 2026

HMTOD is very much the back & forth with them in those seasons to me. That hot & cold, I love you but I’m mad at you

Young & Menace talking about the madness racing through him, very Mark of Cain. Same with Bishop’s Knife Trick, talking about regrets & trying to fix things that are broken

I can’t even listen to Church without thinking of the scene in the crypt or the insane levels of pining in Heaven Can’t Wait.

Like it’s a bit grittier, a bit more angry, a bit more sensual…

I just listen to those songs & think about the intensity of Deancas in S8-10. The pining, anger, betrayal… all the big feelings that were SO present in those seasons especially.

MANIA - I don’t have particular thoughts about every track on that album like I do the other one, it’s more like I relate some of the songs & the overall general thematic concepts from that album to that era. The vibe on that is like… more intense in some ways?

Idk, in my head that’s kind of how it all fits? Like… it’s a story about them in that final season & the shit they were going through

SMFS - Dean crashing out over losing Cas to the empty & thinking about what they could have been if only it hadn’t gone that way now that he knows how Cas felt. And like… it calling back to LFTOS with “what would you trade the pain for?” And like… feeling like he wasted time mad

WATTBA - more end seasons nihilism.

Kintsugi Kid - Dean’s apology to Cas & him talking about how he just feels like there’s all this anger inside him. They’ve known each other a decade by that point

Baby Annihilation makes me think of them finding out it was a lie & watching their world shatter, but also that feeling of hopelessness Dean must have felt to realize Cas was confessing his love only to die and how it just destroyed him

Flu Game - very divorced era coded to me. Also, the talk about legacy & no one will remember me one day is very late seasons Dean

I’ll never not listen to IAMOM & not visualize Dean smashing Chuck’s guitar

So Good Right Now is another that’s just them to me in general through the seasons, just very nihilistic of it’s gonna crash & burn around us but we may as well try

All the seasons kind of had that, so it’s not limited in my head, it’s just also fitting

Heaven Iowa is just them at all times, but I think it fits the final seasons of them both trying to share their feelings & not feeling able to? Dean trying to confess in purgatory, Cas not being able to tell him because of the promise to the Empty? Scar crossed indeed

Fake Out? That’s just S15 Dean in general. “Buried alive inside my dreams, but it was all a fake out” is SO LOUD

HMLAG? Oh that’s divorced S15 Deancas. I want to be mad at you & I want you to make me feel better about being mad at you.

HFSG is about fighting against impossible odds & about fighting back against a life that is prescribed to you by others, taking control of your future. It’s Deancas in general, but it’s def very S15 for me

Like, LFTOS speaks to me about the beginning of S15 when Dean is angry with Cas over Jack & Mary & furious that Chuck has been controlling them. He always trusted Cas to be on his side & suddenly he’s feeling betrayed & he’s questioning his life.

Every song on that album correlates to like… the different moments & vibes in their relationship from the last couple of seasons AND as an album I feel like the theme is about nihilism & the pain of being separated from your loved ones, either by your own choices or by forced out of your control.
