NFL, NBA and NHL salaries keep going up which refutes your premise. Their salary caps come with salary floors guaranteeing players revenue. I’m not defending baseball owners, but you’re living in NY, LA or on Mars if you don’t see problems with some teams paying payrolls twice as high as others.

They must employ 3,000 a game. Maybe they could furlough a few hundred of them and save the money for a reliever or an extra clerk at one ice cream stand.

Not to defend them, but the Pohlads brought in Andy MacPhail and he convinced them Kelly was the right guy to manage.

In β€˜84, I stood at the Humphrey Terminal fence waiting for the plucky team to arrive after their legendary choke in Cleveland. Carl Pohlad was there so I asked if we’d get a relief pitcher for Christmas. He muttered β€œthere’ll be lots of things.” It was three years before they mercifully got Reardon.

Smarter kitchens buy Pillsbury refrigerated dough and have the same thing without the lines. (They’re also a Minnesota company.)

But that begs the question, why would they keep it and why would anybody buy in?

It was a comment worth looking into, though.

It may make sense to trade a closer if a team doesn’t have victories to save, but they traded one of their few guys who’s fun to watch for a position they don’t really need.

Falvey got only a brief mention. Does he seem canny to you, Aaron? Do other execs like talking with him?

One might think the easiest and first thing AI would be able to do is figure out how to work the thing it’s programmed on. Sadly no.

Who came up with the dopey headpiece, Joe Pohlad or are such fabrications a lame strategy by the commissioner to attract the young demographic?
