Conspiracy lovers and opportunistic politicians, with some wealthy folks working behind the scenes, have been trying REALLY hard to make us scared of the simple idea of having more things nearby, and more choices in how to get them.

Proximity restores health. As reported in The Lancet, walking 7,000 steps a day—about one hour—reduces major risks: cancer, cardiovascular disease, dementia, depression, and diabetes. Walkable proximity turns life into prevention, compressing morbidity and extending well-being.

The issue is the role of cars in the city, which is often used as a pretext to label any urban proposal that seeks to reduce their prevalence as ‘anti-freedom’. My research work incorporates this element into the 15MC concept, and its formalisation as a global proposal, angry conspiracy adepts

The 15MCy has nothing authoritarian. The conspiracy theory is based on a manipulation: it turns an additional freedom — access to everything near where you live — into a fiction of control. This model imposes nothing; it expands choices, improves quality of life, and strengthens everyday autonomy.
