At least a few folks have been a bit confused by the image we used for this ad. One thought it was “luxury housing.” To be clear, this is public/social/supportive housing in downtown Vancouver. To their credit, BC Housing hires good architects who do very good designs for public housing. #UrbanTruth

Photos: In the Colombian Amazon, fishing binds a community to river and forest
VAUPÉS, Colombia — The Vaupés River and its extensive network of waterways and lagoons in the southeastern Colombian department of the same name are integral to the Indigenous Macaquiño community,…
For the Macaquiño community in Colombia’s Vaupés, fishing is part of a deep cultural and spiritual bond with local waters.
But modern gear like longlines and mesh nets is reducing fish stocks and eroding ancestral practices, as fewer people now know how to make traditional tools.

No, dear Brent,
Thnat is not correct. You are wrong in what you say.
It is not branding, it is an ontological model that draws on mathematics and computational science.
You are not telling the truth, and that is a shame.

Image of busy walking street with shops on the ground floor and other uses (offices, apartments) above. The text line says “Wait, we’re afraid of walkable distances now?”
Tag line of the Urban Truth Collective at the bottom.
Conspiracy lovers and opportunistic politicians, with some wealthy folks working behind the scenes, have been trying REALLY hard to make us scared of the simple idea of having more things nearby, and more choices in how to get them.
Weird, right? #UrbanTruth

Proximity restores health. As reported in The Lancet, walking 7,000 steps a day—about one hour—reduces major risks: cancer, cardiovascular disease, dementia, depression, and diabetes. Walkable proximity turns life into prevention, compressing morbidity and extending well-being.

The issue is the role of cars in the city, which is often used as a pretext to label any urban proposal that seeks to reduce their prevalence as ‘anti-freedom’. My research work incorporates this element into the 15MC concept, and its formalisation as a global proposal, angry conspiracy adepts

The 15MCy has nothing authoritarian. The conspiracy theory is based on a manipulation: it turns an additional freedom — access to everything near where you live — into a fiction of control. This model imposes nothing; it expands choices, improves quality of life, and strengthens everyday autonomy.

Graphic showing a busy urban arterial clogged with cars and trucks. The text says that car dependency does not equal freedom. Mobility freedom comes from mobility choices. The image is tagged with the Urban Truth Collective logo.
They still want us to think cars equal freedom. But car DEPENDENCY is the opposite of freedom.
Mobility freedom comes from mobility choices.

Ad on housing and homelessness: “If we don’t build housing to solve homelessness, we don’t really want to solve homelessness.”
Ad on car dependency and mobility freedom: “Car Dependency isn’t freedom. Mobility freedom comes from mobility choices.”
Ad on walkable neighbourhoods and complete communities: “Walkable neighbourhood aren’t scary, they’re convenient.”
Text from the URBAN TRUTH COLLECTIVE website, “About Us” page: “The Collective will share persuasive research, evidence, and information in ways that will successfully break through the noise and influence decisions. The Collective will create new messaging, brands, and marketing campaigns to help expand understanding around the truth about better city-building, and build defences to urban disinformation. And the collective will forcefully call out the lies, and the liars, that seek to undermine both the truth about, and the achievement of, better cities for people.“
