Totally true. I even thought of having a separate section for really stand out discs like this but I know I'd just confuse myself

And back to my own vinyl, my fave 80s synth-pop. Yello's music always had an atmosphere for me, a sense of being somewhere, like a movie score.

They did a few releases of double record reissues back in the 70s and early 80s. They're fun to look for in used record stores, but otherwise Discogs.com is the best option

Representing the cheerful, pop-oriented side of jazz, Chuck Mangione is the 63rd selection.

Definitely in the smooth genre now, more than with Grusin before. But dad enjoyed sunny fusion from time to time.

Selection 62, another from the lab! Dad liked it enough to also buy the box set.

Fusion-y(?) compared to the hard-bop & cool he introduced to me, but exceptional sound (like most these Sheffield's). Punchy percussion, and particularly real bass are stand outs

#61 was a more recent discovery for Dad- a friend told him Dark Side was conceptualized as an opera (which was Dad's 1st audiophile love).

He liked it enough to have vinyl & SACD, and it certainly sounds very good on this pressing, maybe a bit morose for me!

I've heard a few Sheffield Lab releases but have a lot more to go through. (The collection has *15* of them, Dad was a nut for direct-to-disc and DMM)

Holy SOUND. Honestly blown away, #60 from Dad's and I think the best recording I've ever heard at home. Even in the room (bit small for the Paragon), the band is right there with you, dimensional and real.

This vinyl is worth finding, audiophile masterpiece
