I love Bowie's vocals on the soundtrack more than on the Let's Dance version. And the film was so hot for a teenager in the 80s, not sure it still stands up today 😆

Sounds like time to pull out my Bill Nelson

I have Nobody Does It Like Me for exactly the same reason. She is such a fantastic singer but wasn't always given the best advice on musical direction, in my mind.

FIRST exposure to Simple Minds was a friend's gold marbled New Gold Dream (loved). 2 releases later, their sound is less New Wave, still great.

Great 1985 US pressing. No noise, great mastering, good bass. This is on repeat.

One of my faves of the used finds. I love the small group live recordings, though there is nothing special or audiophile about this one. A few snaps and pops, but a really enjoyable, listenable session, on the cool side 🕶️

73 is a rarity, an early RR recording that was something of an accident. 5 veteran musicians doing what they did best, not fiery, just masterful jazz.

Norvo is my new favorite vibraphonist and this is a stellar recording, lovely.

Dad's turntable back in the 70s/80s was a linear tracking Harmon Kardon so I'm familiar :)

Listening to Simple Minds now and it's surprisingly well done. Some of the 80s vinyl are junk when it comes to mastering and pressing. Happy about this one!

Love this! Vaughan right in the midst of a hard-bop group, not lush or orchestrated. Improvises like a horn player! Clifford Brown’s interplay with Sarah is magic and the band is full of legends.

Selection from Dad's Collection #72 Willie Nelson - Red Headed Stranger, Columbia Legacy Vinyl reissue Playing on VPI Scoutmaster turntable, 12-pound acrylic platter glowing red. Audio Technica AT-VM95ML cartridge. Cover: Main image: A sepia-toned, almost Old West–style framed portrait of Willie Nelson, shown in a circular vignette. Dad respected Willie (a fave of Mom), had a few vinyl and SACD.
