People should actually be panicked about the fact that social media algorithms mean that we functionally can live in completely different realities or you can just write snarky comments about how dumb people are

I know I can’t make you choose the correct response

Trump told us the horrifying reason why Kilmar Abrego Garcia is not back in the U.S. The Trump administration wants to send Americans to foreign prisons. Keeping Abrego Garcia in El Salvador is key to that lawless plan.

At Law Dork, I wrote about that Oval Office visit — and what it means:

The macro workshop @mhedin.bsky.social and I taught yesterday in Anza-Borrego was great fun. After class time in the morning we wandered the desert for subjects. Among those were these amazing 3 mm. planthopper nymphs which I am calling Shaving Brush Bugs. We found them under rocks. 🐙🌿📷 #insects

A dozen very tiny orange lollipops on rotting wood. The stems are white and the bulbs are shiny orange. When these mature they will fluff up like bits of yellow Brillo pads on tiny stems. When all the spores are gone, they will fade to almost white.

It’s Sunday. Enjoy this beautiful slime mold. It’s probably Hemitrichia calyculata. Each little lollipop is just under 2mm tall. 🌱🌿

Union Exemption: Nonprofit Work and the Boundaries of the Commercial Economy, 1951–1976 | Modern American History | Cambridge Core Union Exemption: Nonprofit Work and the Boundaries of the Commercial Economy, 1951–1976

From 1951-1976, the NLRB exempted most nonprofit organizations from union recognition. What does this trajectory tell us about changing notions of the nonprofit economy and its role in American society?

What's really behind Elon Musk and DOGE's AI schemes DOGE is feeding workers' emails into an AI to decide if they should keep their jobs. It's a cruel joke in the service of something much worse.

DOGE's new AI, built to scan federal workers' emails to see if they get to keep their jobs, is the latest in a number of AI schemes from Musk.

We might scoff at how dumb these ideas are, but the truth is, they're not even supposed to work. They're built to eliminate accountability.

It is very, very important that Admin Scholars are very, very clear right now these e-mails are wildly unlawful. Russ Vought and Elon Musk trying to terrify and harass government employees, and they need to know that these e-mails are the very definition of arbitrary and capricious action.

I'm only going to say this one time.
Protesting in these times needs to be deliberate around safety & risk.

We need to be cautious about "spontaneous" actions that have no discernible leadership or planning.

"Just show up" as a directive should be a HUGE RED FLAG.

NEW — DOGE now has full access to HHS Payment Management System, I’ve learned.

The system distributes almost $1 trillion per year in grants (largest in the govt) and supports all of NIH, CDC + many other public health initiatives. Musk guy Luke Farritor is actively delaying payments to recipients.
