$100 Uber to the airport from Ballard, midday in no traffic. the most expensive rideshares in the country are in Seattle. I understand the need to pay drivers better, but it's a huge cost for those of us that mostly cycle, and the transit option is an extra hour or more.

Annoyed but also pleased with myself. After our cheap electric car (BMW i3) bricked over the weekend I was able to diagnose it to the 12v battery, order one delivered today and an OBD2 reader, install it and reset code. $200 total and an hour of work. Oh, we live on an island with one car.

The White House claims the vote to rename the Kennedy Center was β€œunanimous.” That is false. I was muted on the call and denied the opportunity to speak or register my opposition. That is not consensus. That is censorship.

I was so sad to hear about the death of a cyclist due to a hit-and-run on Beacon Ave. Allie was a beloved community member, avid biker, & advocate for safer transit & streets. My condolences to their family and friends. But condolences are hollow if we don’t take action to prevent the next tragedy.

"The humanities really are a resource β€” a confidence for living in our times.” Dean Sara Guyer on the modern utility of humanities degrees This interview originally appeared on the Division of Arts

"While other universities report that the humanities are shrinking, at Berkeley, the opposite is true. The music major is the fastest-growing major on campus. We are finding bigger classrooms because film is exploding. English is back to the numbers we saw 15 years ago. We are hiring" bit.ly/4ohKuOe

I'm not sure what others saw out there today, but where I was GenZ was less than 1% of the crowds. In the rest of the world that generation is at the forefront of change, but I have not seen that in America. What's holding them back?

Yes, we need safer roads for 2 wheelers. As a long time motorcycle rider I have to point out that you are talking about roads. Motorcycles and roads. That's "micromobility" and most of the world does it. Class 3 "e-bikes" are just unlicenced motorcycles.

So.... food prices keep going up for Americans and the Chinese won't buy US soybeans because of the unnecessary trade war, and now our tax dollars (raised by tariffs) are going to bail out farmers who are growing food we don't eat? Also Argentina?!?!
