Good piece from Chaminda, and from what I can tell, govt isn't exactly learning from its past mistakes
Very limited (if any) outreach done since - not just on the specifics, but to address the really widespread anger and frustration that spilled out indirectly with the welfare rebellion
βMotherhood penaltyβ costs women an average Β£65,618 in pay by time first child turns five.
This is followed by gender pay gap, pension gap, health gap; slow career progression, harassment and violence, unpaid carer work, retirement insecurity.
All women deserve justice.
Labour MPs who voted against welfare cuts this summer have warned that plans to change disability benefit assessments could trigger another mass rebellion
Others called for a vote to be delayed until a review into the assessments is complete

That is a large part of the problem for kids with ADHD⦠it is criminal.
03.10.2025 12:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The neuroprotection of stimulant medication for ADHD in children with #ADHD by Dr Barkley. I can attest to this, seeing how my son has improved in the last 18 months. My son has been on stimulant meds since age 4. Neuro protection properties of #ADHD meds only benefit kids.

I can tell you it does get better. My son is really much better at age 16.5. My 13, soon to be 14 year old daughter is in her rough stage. Is your son on ADHD meds?
03.10.2025 12:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Parenting children with #ADHD will never ever be a one size fits all. You do it by the seat of your pants and whatever metaphor comes to mind, and you do your best. You show love and support, and you have to take a bit of TLC for yourself. It is not for the faint hearted.
03.10.2025 12:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Glasman does not fit into the Tory & Establishment mould, so he joined Labour. Classism, neoliberalism, elitism and even racism are the blight that damages the UK.
03.10.2025 10:55 β π 31 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0After clashing with Maurice Glasman recently, I've come to realise just how pernicious he and his Blue Labour movement are. We could discuss his chumminess with Steve Bannon and JD Vance, endless pandering to the far right and evident hatred of the Labour left. But there's something even worse. π§΅
03.10.2025 10:43 β π 1239 π 410 π¬ 56 π 22That is a hard problem. And it persists long into adulthood. Only now can I say no to my impulse buys. I do fail at times. And this impulsiveness can create failed relationships - and often do. Spouses just canβt cope.
03.10.2025 10:51 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 090% of ADHD parenting is weathering meltdowns - extremely hard. I donβt enjoy it - and I have ADHD & RSD too, so it can become a fraught situation. It takes both of us some days. Immediate gratification is one of the hardest challenges in ADHD.
03.10.2025 10:49 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I donβt understand this at all. The rhetoric about getting disabled people does not match their actions.
03.10.2025 09:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The disability minister has admitted signing off on orders that have led to widespread cuts to disabled peopleβs Access to Work support packages since Labour came to power.

Green party leader urges the Bank of England to stop paying interest on commercial banks' reserves.
ECB stopped paying interest on a portion of banks reserves.
The left has long urged Govt to stop this Β£20bn subsidy to banks, a consequence of QE.
What could govt do with Β£20bn?

Wow! Hard.
03.10.2025 09:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If he is too much, remove yourself for a little bit.
I donβt think there is an easy solution. Just be consistent.
I have to deal with this from my daughter a lot. She is 13.
Then take him through his spending. Do it gently. That could be a start.
Then remind him when heβs asking for money about the fiscal constraints of the family. If he explodes, let him get through that - show him lots of love and patience. It will happen over and over.
I donβt have answers here, except to say that whatever they say is not intentional - teens donβt have executive functions to manage this.
I would start by actually showing him your bank balance, show him household expenses. Show him how much money is needed for the budget.
This is an extremely difficult situation to navigate. The need for immediate gratification is extremely strong in ADHD teens & children. It is the impulsive desires and you have to accept that there will be anger. Even trying to discuss this is will be explosive.
