Very limited (if any) outreach done since - not just on the specifics, but to address the really widespread anger and frustration that spilled out indirectly with the welfare rebellion

I can tell you it does get better. My son is really much better at age 16.5. My 13, soon to be 14 year old daughter is in her rough stage. Is your son on ADHD meds?

Parenting children with #ADHD will never ever be a one size fits all. You do it by the seat of your pants and whatever metaphor comes to mind, and you do your best. You show love and support, and you have to take a bit of TLC for yourself. It is not for the faint hearted.

Glasman does not fit into the Tory & Establishment mould, so he joined Labour. Classism, neoliberalism, elitism and even racism are the blight that damages the UK.

That is a hard problem. And it persists long into adulthood. Only now can I say no to my impulse buys. I do fail at times. And this impulsiveness can create failed relationships - and often do. Spouses just can’t cope.

90% of ADHD parenting is weathering meltdowns - extremely hard. I don’t enjoy it - and I have ADHD & RSD too, so it can become a fraught situation. It takes both of us some days. Immediate gratification is one of the hardest challenges in ADHD.

If he is too much, remove yourself for a little bit.

I don’t think there is an easy solution. Just be consistent.

I have to deal with this from my daughter a lot. She is 13.

Then take him through his spending. Do it gently. That could be a start.

Then remind him when he’s asking for money about the fiscal constraints of the family. If he explodes, let him get through that - show him lots of love and patience. It will happen over and over.

I don’t have answers here, except to say that whatever they say is not intentional - teens don’t have executive functions to manage this.

I would start by actually showing him your bank balance, show him household expenses. Show him how much money is needed for the budget.

This is an extremely difficult situation to navigate. The need for immediate gratification is extremely strong in ADHD teens & children. It is the impulsive desires and you have to accept that there will be anger. Even trying to discuss this is will be explosive.
