So regarding string theory Im still not convinced either for or against that it will provide the solution to quantum gravity but how could we solve QG without string theory?

I have a sense that the transition of magnetic dipole spins between domain walls in magnets is related to why the fields can round corners in a magnetic circuit. Its like a combination of exchange forces, the spins want to align with the external field, and the fields generated by the spins themself

Theories are always going to be approximations for the next theory to come after it imo.

If you try to put general relativity into a field theory it only works as an effective field theory (up to an energy cutoff) as it is non renormalizable.

Is string theory completely wrong then? Without a supersymmetry the ground state is tachyonic.
