I think the key takeaway is, those who vote for extreme (further from the centre) parties like reform and greens won't switch. These are ideological voters and no amount of policy or bad pressure will sway them to the centre. In absolute numbers, they're probably too low to be concerned about.

student loans are both an increased marginal tax and a debt; try buying a house with a 50k loan hanging around your neck. Once again the system favours students from richer families to benefit from HE and get on in life. Why not just turn it into a straightforward graduate tax?
