Last night I dreamed I had tea with Donna Tartt. While she didn't have that trademark dark bob haircut, it was definitely her.

The life of a historical novelist: I’m googling “men’s underwear, 19th-century, US”

I’m editing book 2 and want to use the word “buzz”. The book is set in 1846 US and ‘buzz’ sounds very modern. But then I thought: doesn’t Hamlet use it? Bit of googling and hey presto! I’m right. ‘Buzz’ is going in.

As it's #WorldSmileDay2023 thought I'd post pics of animals smiling.
