I read the instructions and understood nothing. I don’t have the patience, and it’s not important enough to me to take the necessary time to go through all those steps.

Maybe when I’ve cleared the next few weeks of deadlines…

I am the only administrator so I assume I do. Someone else built the site. I update it (with a long abandoned piece of software called iWeb) but I have never gone anywhere near those settings. Or any settings.

That seems like a lot more work than it should be, right?

I have never felt older in my life than I did reading the instructions on how to verify your account on here.

I thought I was a pretty smart guy. Apparently not.

This is from the middle of a thread, but I think it’s a nice stand-alone aphorism for a big percentage of Internet interactions with querulous strangers.

This started because an American accused an Iranian woman of being like Trump… for using the official name of Iran as a country.

You got up on your soapbox to compare using the full name of Iran — by an Iranian — to white GOP scumbags using Obama’s middle name to inflame racists.

That’s nuts, it’s bad faith, and it’s wrong. And when it was pointed out to you, you doubled down.

Take the L and get on with your life.

It makes a lot of sense when you’re attempting to talk over an Iranian and interpret her words through an entirely inappropriate American context.

You’re behaving like the many avowed atheists who still can’t help but see everything through a Christian lens.

Try listening.

Your only mistake was the presumption of good faith.

In actual fact, it’s not, and believing so is just a confession you’re not interested in the rest of the world and what non-Americans think.

It will always blow my mind that we have people energetically promoting a candidate whose tattoo is literally the topic of the “are we the baddies?” sketch.

Like they’re cheerleading the guy who lacks the self awareness of the Nazi in the sketch about how transparently evil their iconography was.

It is visible in virtually every WW2 movie, and maybe that doesn’t jump out at YOU, but if you had it tattooed on your body YOU WOULD NOTICE IT ON NAZI UNIFORMS.
