This week, Deer Valley Education Association union members held stand-outs to thank voters for passing Deer Valley’s much-needed override and supporting district schools.

Over the course of those visits, we showed our national colleagues what we know to be true: that even in states where the political climate is hostile to unions and public education, real victories are still possible. Our experience in Arizona shows that when educators come together, we win!

To put their newly-honed skills to work, we brought these national colleagues into five of our Phoenix-area locals to meet directly with educators and practice effective organizing conversations.

Earlier this week, our union was proud to host about 150 union education leaders from across the country for two days of organizing, solidarity-building, and collective learning.

Our union was proud to endorse Adelita based on her long record of fighting for students and public school educators in Southern Arizona. We're thrilled to see her finally take her seat in Congress.

For seven weeks, House Speaker Mike Johnson refused to seat Adelita Grijalva, leaving more than 800,000 Arizonans without a voice in Congress and breaking from long-standing precedent that allows Congress to be seated during a shutdown.

This Veterans Day, our union is proud to honor and celebrate the Arizona veterans who are continuing their service as public school educators.

During this fall’s elections, union educators fought hard to pass bonds and overrides to fund safe schools and great programs.

Our union won races in more than 90% of districts where we competed — sweeping Pima and Yavapai counties, winning big in urban Phoenix, and reversing previous losses in Chandler and Deer Valley.

Over the weekend, bad-faith actors mobilized an online mob against educators in the Vail School District.

We are horrified by the death threats that followed, and we urge law enforcement to protect the Vail community. Vail educators deserve privacy and grace during this time.
