Thank you and apologies I forgot to add that info. I spotted these in Vigo October 2025 - the first and only time I’ve seen them.

How exciting! We spent a day in Santiago de Compostela last year - watching people finish their pilgrimages. I learned that these walkers are known as 'peregrinos' and as I sat in a square, I looked up in the sky to see a peregrine falcon for the first time in years.

Black and white portrait of a little egret standing in shallow water at night, its bright white plumage glowing against a deep black background. The bird faces left in profile, with its slender dark bill and pale eye sharply defined. Long, delicate breeding plumes cascade from its chest like fine threads, and faint reflections ripple beneath it in the still water, creating a dramatic, high-contrast composition.

My cohost Rob @robcrank68.bsky.social has said “ today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BestOfTheMonth, your bird captures you like best from February, the Alt theme is #Pigeons&Doves.”

I love how they gently stir the river floor, disturbing what I guess are small invertebrates to eat.

The alt theme for #BirdOfTheDay is #PigeonsAndDoves - I was in London this week - wandered through Spa Fields for the first time and spotted these. #photography #urbannature #birds

Nice!! I see them around my neighbourhood in Carshalton - but 99/100 they're swimming away so all I get is butt photos

The Wandle Telegraph - an attempt to turn a bird sighting list into something more akin to a story. Curious to know what you think? :) #photography #bird #wren #nature www.dougshawart.com/blog/the-wan...
