Terrifyingly magnificent writing. John is a consumate gentleman, a wordsmith, and he truly encapsulates the confusion, despair, and disgust most of us feel at this Government.
Even my mother-in-law, a lifetime Nat voter, is appalled.

Why are mainstream media outlets (TV1News & TheSpinoff for a start) platforming Sean Plunket/The Platform? This lends apparent endorsement to an 'alternative' 'news' forum, that's at best, highly dubious, and surrenders to Winston Peter's cynical refusal to speak to credible journos

Niwa forecast of above average temps over summer

Niwa forecast of above average temps over summer

Um, the prevailing narrative of β€œyay, the long-awaited kiwi summer is arriving” might also want to consider that the forecast map is bright red.
Last year was the 3rd-hottest on record.
We’re expected to get 40Β°C days.
The highest last year was 35.6Β°C.
We should be talking about navigating this.

It is not anti-Israeli to condemn Benjamin Netanyahu. It is, in fact, pro-democracy and pro-peace to do so.

'One term governments are possible. Β But you have to be prepared and well resourced. Now is the time to start getting organised to making this Government a one term National government. Β And for Labour to work out its future'

Poster with white words over the background of a photo of a picket line. The image is faded and blurred. The words say: Thank unions for this long weekend….actually, thank unions for weekends. Period.

Thinking about all the essential workers that will keep NZ safe, clean, fed, and moving over the long weekend who will get shafted if FPAs get ditched.

FPAs ensure people are paid fairly for their work & stop the race to the bottom on wages & conditions union.org.nz/fair-pay-agr...

These last few days without a government have been the most relaxing I've had in years and I hope Winston holds off on a decision until at least 2025. We all deserve a break from things happening

Watch the narrative about Māori that will come out in AoNZ if we have to protest a Te Tiriti referendum. The excuses needed to disenfranchise indigenous people are being formulated globally. I desperately hope I'm wrong, but I think it's going to be a heck of a time.

An illustration of a grandmother and a small child entering a public library with the words β€œjust a building with some books in it”. The roof of the library is a book on its side with an explosion of colour and beauty to symbolise knowledge, curiosity and creativity.

Christchurch! Please email your local councillor to let them know how much our small community libraries are valued. They are not, as our mayor describes them, β€œjust a building with some books in it.” The council is considering closing small libraries to cut costs. Please share.

The sooner Papatūānuku gets around to making humans extinct the better.
We all need to get in the bin. How am I just learning about this? Why isn't this stuff covered on the news?
Anyone else had to turn to YouTube this week to learn about Palestine and Israel?

Something I suspect NZ is about to learn the hard way (again): politicians don't run the country. They make laws and high-level decisions, but they don't actually make the country function on a day to day basis. The people who do that are the people the new government is gagging to put out of a job.
