Another Plain.bellied Watersnake. This snake is just chillin on the leaf litter, their head poking over some green plants.
Another Plain-bellied Watersnake, this one is basking on top of a beaver den. You can see their face on the left with their characteristic yellow/orange ventral scales under the face.
Here's a few Plain-bellied Watersnakes found in the past few days during some super productive herping sessions! I love these guys, I think they are my favorite Nerodia species! #herps π

A picture of a Mud Salamander with their head lifted chilling on moss. This salamander is orange with a few black spots on their back.
My lifer Mud Salamander from East Tennessee! This is a species I had wanted to see for so long, but every time I looked for it over the years I always failed. That changed Monday when me and a couple of friends were able to turn up this beautiful adult!!! An absolute stunner!!! #herps

A chunky female Streamside Salamander found during amphibian surveys last week. This species has been affected by the January drought, pushing individuals into breeding on late February instead of the usual mid-January. Hoping the eggs and larvae have enough time to develop before creeks dry. #herps

A very pretty Cave Salamander found during amphibian surveys this week. Hadnβt seen one in a while, and generally Iβd expect to see them in late March into April, so itβs nice to see one of them this early into the year! #herps

An interesting Tiger Salamander with yellow stripes almost on their sides and black on their back.
A few of the very many Tiger Salamanders found crossing the road during a humid (barely rainy) night last week! This is the first time I've seen Tigers move with barely any rain, but I guess the January drought was so bad that anything would trigger their movement. #herps

One of my favorite species to see in early spring are Eastern Ribbonsnakes! A fairly uncommon species in Tennessee due to their limited range within the state. Found this one last week while on a walk with my gf @valenthedragon.bsky.social !

A picture of a very dusty Watersnake chilling on some gravel. This snake is very dusty because it had just come from underground after brumating for a while, so you can't see the colors very well.
My first snakes of the year in Middle Tennessee! We are SOOOO back!!

Pristimantis labiosus
Pristimantis is a very diverse genus of frogs and is often really difficult to ID them down to species. With this said, this one is of the biggest and the yellow stripes make this species fairly distinct. #herps πΈ
A digital art piece of a very happy frog wearing a wide brimmed wizard hat. He's completely emerald green except for his pink tongue and big sparkling black eyes. A floppy purple hat is perched on his head, an orange star at the tip of it and an orange band wrapped around the brim. He's sitting very politely on top of some clouds bathed in the light of the sunset, but he looks quite excited, as if he's barely holding himself back from hopping towards the viewer. The background is a soft gradient of purple and orange, speckled with stars in the distance.
Froggy wizard casts a spell to make you happy! β¨πΈ
He's trying his best to make the world a lil brighter.
It's my first art piece in a lil while so I'm a bit rusty, but finally my life has stabilized enough that I'm able to create things again :3 π I can't wait.
