I may have a stroke.
Someone said protests don’t belong in church and it took every ounce of self-censure within me not to say “Deborah you are literally a Protestant.”
A PROTESTant.
I assume they think Luther was nailing Bed, Bath, & Beyond coupons to the door.

The great Barbara Smith mentioned Sojourners for Justice Press as being in the lineage of Kitchen Table Press and I cried. A friend sent it to me. What an incredible thing to have to live up to!

I shouldn't be shocked, but I'm still always brought up short to realize how many people think "civility" means "white people speaking in relatively calm voices" no matter what vile shit they say.

The collapse of the trad wife and blue collar wife who works from home model should be interesting for republicans. This isn’t Avon money anymore. A lot of of the female economy has kept middle class households afloat. But we will see 🤷🏾♀️

And I absolutely choose gas stations based on if they have TVs playing on the pump.

We're at the very beginning of organizing a grassroots public history convening here in NYC in 2026. It will be a way to bring together folks who are engaged in local public history in a grassroots way so we can connect, share ideas, network etc... Wondering if folks in other cities have done this?

Preferring nonfiction, I rarely read fiction - let alone historical fiction. But...I really, really enjoyed Last Night at the Telegraph Club, a historical novel geared toward young adult readers. Set in 1950s San Francisco, it centers a Chinese American teenage girl discovering her queerness. #books

Absolutely.
Also we did something called “Mousercise” (the Disney kid-friendly Jazzercise) in elementary school.
I joined band as soon as I could so I didn’t have to go to P.E., which was unhelpful anyway.

Typewritten class directives recorded by a student who took a course with artist Corita Kent in the 1960s at Immaculate Heart:
"Keep a journal—fill it with everything you come in contact with—be very aware—of shapes, everything, because letters are shapes."
"Make a list of 100 signs you read today. Look and jot down the message that it gives you."
From the Papers of Corita, Schlesinger Library, Harvard Radcliffe Institute
