Yeah, similar to me moving from Tucson to San Diego originally: not that different. I was a "Foothills Kid".

Tintin is probably my favorite. I just wish he had spent more time creating new adventures than revising old ones.

It's National Badger Day! Travelers Startled by a Badger's Gigantic Scrotum, color woodcut by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, 1881:

It has a beautiful "live with" tone, I'm sure. Really nice.

That show was so good for the first few years, and she was the funniest thing about it.

How much more can we endure as a nation? (Toilet paper marketing.)

When it comes to fancy boutique tabletop ornaments (not derogatory!) and picturesque public sculptures, it's hard to beat Barbara Hepworth. Consistently chic, beautiful forms, sharp craftsmanship, rewarding secondary views... what's not to love?

Just spotted in a video about sculptures in the Royal collection: this exquisite golden Barbara Hepworth on a dramatic slate pedestal:

I think that's true. The effect of wearing CdG is usually self evident! They really do target a wide demographic because I find so much of their clothing to be age-appropriate for me.

I don't love a lot of the new CdG Shirt items because one of the reasons why I otherwise love the brand so much is that they DON'T usually have logos. I'd be so embarrassed to wear this:

Tempo House
YouTube video by The Fall - Topic Tempo House

I've been on a Fall kick again, and every time I hear the live Tempo House from their fabulous Perverted by Language album, I think, "Yes. This is their single finest recording." And the Dutch are weeping! In four languages at least! www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVtz...

The US diplomatic corps used to employ fussy queens who knew how to get things done, I've heard. 😜

Every time I see this wonderful picture I feel obliged to note that it happened because the Armstrongs were on a tour sponsored by the US Information Agency, doing the kind of cultural diplomacy that was once an important part of our work overseas.

Alas, no more.

I took advantage of it in the 90s between jobs. I sold off most of my thrift store lunch box collection at a collectibles shop for more than they are "worth" today. I do collect things, but I use everything. Everything utterly mauled.

Another fun thing about this strip is that it shows the relative ages of the characters at one particular moment in the strip's history by their relative heights. This was not stable at all, and eventually Charlie Brown and Linus are the same age and Lucy is older!
